PGI is delivering a CW update in 10 days (the 13th). I myself wasnt expecting anything until next year so this is good news in terms of no more waiting. Waiting is killing this mode as it is.

I have been on hiatus from CW since around when phase 3 started and here is the question.

Is CW back?

Yes it is now Clan vs. IS with some rolling IS vs IS side events, but we are also getting a new front tug of war system and significant changes to combat gameplay.

Lets give this thing a fair shot and I will try to muster MS forces which have sort of gone AWOL and I hope everyone else does the same and spreads the word.

Im particularly excited about this combined with the new qp game modes. People have been saying that we need something that feels more mechwarrior campaign-ey feel, and a vip asssasination and/or defense is taken straight out of the cappellan mission in mw4 mercs, and thats escort mode. Now consider that theyre folding in qp games into FW, that means we get that, and new assault mode in community warfare. So i think thatll give the attack phases a very planetary campain type feel. Assault would make sense right at the start of an attack phase, like they just unloaded and set up a temporary base, which explains why it can be blown up while invasion walls are godmode strong, and those show up with invasion at the end of the campaign, were one side is just really dug in.

Theres a lot of good possibilities, but its video didnt go into as much detail because mw5 took the most time.

Still too many questions.

Clan vs i.S. tech balance.
Population balance.
Merc role vs loyalist.

Need more info.

i think if they covered it at the roundatable and ngng 145 then its in the new patch.

Ohh sweet they are finally listening to us, I remember writing that QP should be folded into FW for a long time now

Russ needs to buy PGI staff "Make FW great again" hats

I think its clear from her last speech at the pleasure pit we need to push for mwo to move to the unreal engine asap. Also the faction community warfare will be interesting at least at first no matter what. Oh and the new skill tree things for the mechs will help with balancing maybe... prolly not in most peoples minds.

...not gonna lie, I have been in "meh-mode" for a good portion of 2016 with MWO. I was a heavy supporter for quite some time, played a lot, and was generally enjoying the game, especially FW.

Unfortunately, FW3 killed a lot of it for me, not because of Tom (it really didn't bother me), but because of the fact that I can't move between factions like I used to (2 weeks IS, 2 weeks Clan)...and the cool mechs and medallions that gave me bonus Loyalty Points don't work as a Merc...

This all being said, I have read over the December Roadmap page and a little bit about what has been announced and, I honestly feel a bit excited here. Maybe 2017 will bring some awesome with it. I mean, I really do want to see where this goes. I am legitimately curious and in a good way (as opposed to watching a train-wreck over a volcano).

...so yeah, if there is something there for me to sink my teeth into and partake, Yeah, I'll jump in on this whole new FW thing...

The Unreal engine for MWO, if it were to happen, will be certainly not happen until after the release of MW5 on the Unreal engine and whether or not PGI is able to or wants to renew the license in 2018, and if renewed would extend it to the 2020s. Russ had noted that the license renewal is based on meeting certain criteria. What the criteria is, that info has not been released though.

But if it is renewed, the MW5 would likely be the foundation for the combat engine of a MWO on the Unreal engine. It is that one way of looking at it?
