So...Apparently PGI has been shoving an inferior product down our throats, and begging for money, because they've been busy spending all that time and money creating a whole new game. Who here honestly believes MWO will continue to exist, or will ever be "upgraded" from where it stands now, once MW5 is released?

Who else feels like they've invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars now, under false pretenses? I know I feel like I've been bent over the counter, and f*cked up the *ss right now.

I am extremely happy that PGI is developing MW5 and that I had a chance to help by funding their office. PGI is the only company in the world that cares enough about the MechWarrior franchise to develop and publish it with proper legal rights. HBS is also piggybacking on PGI's art assets and MWO's impact on the resurgence of BT video games.

I, Sir, am furiously happy about it.

Who are these people satisfied by replaying the same single player campaign over and over again for years on end? PvE is fun in a multiplayer game because other people see your accomplishments (gearing and leveling) and those accomplishments also could be used in PvP.

When MW5 comes out in 2-3 years and there's as mentioned, probably 20 hours of gameplay, and no dlc or expansion is in sight for quite a while after, what the heck will you do?

Will you jump for joy that half the MWO development team was ripped away for 2 years to create this 20 hours of fun?

You are simply agreeing with me and not asking me , right?

Also, I forget to which freebirth I am replying to but A) Mech 2 campaign is just awful and B) I sold all my IS mechs years ago. I also use a variety of mech designs

Can't see how a thriving MechWarrior gaming market is a bad thing.

... but why not have both?
I too am of the "Yes, we can have our cake and eat it too." crowd.

So, absolutely, let's have both! I can see MW5 being distributed solely on Steam (as PGI and Steam already have a distribution relationship) and as with pretty much every other Steam game in existence, DLC as an added stream of income from a distinct stand alone title.

AND... Just because some of you are a bit short sighted in your negativity on this: A stand alone non-cooperative game model lends itself to ensuring there are tools for a near endless stream of -->FREE<-- PLAYER CREATED CONTENT just like on some of our favorite titles ala FallOut, Civilization, Space Engineers, Empyrion Galactic Survival, etc. etc. etc.

I do not see this as a bad thing.

I will admit, I am ecstatic to see the development of a new MW:M game. They even fixed one of my pet peeves with MWO in the trailer - when the Shadow Hawk walks the pilot's view bobs. Right now our POV might well be locked in space and hovering above the ground as the cockpit bounces unconvincingly around it. Sorry, I know it's a small thing, but dammit~ >.@

...anyone else? No?

*cough*

You know what will really piss them off, we tell them that PGI used MWO money to pay bills. Pay employee's. Rent. Office party. Etc.

You know, the same thing the every business in the world does.

That should put them into a frothing at the mouth, uninformed nerd rage.

The things I got from the MW:5 Demo:

1) Russ thinks it is a good idea to run straight backward when he fights.
2) Russ plays scared even when he out tons another mech.
3) PGI couldnt get their player base to support another game, so he just took development assets from MWO.
4) When Russ says that he is fully committed to developing MWO, I just look back at the lack of development in 2016.
5) It has been 4+ years of development and Faction Warfare is no where near what was promised in the first presentation.

So, just excuse me if I regard everything with a bag of salt.
