I think I see one about once every couple of months, usually as mentioned above an Assault or Timberwolf.

I might actually see more, but the tints in the sky often make guessing colours next to impossible.

My guess that they don't show often is a combination the maps dicolour them, and people pick on gold mechs

I think that's because you can make passable builds with gold mechs, I think with the phoenix mechs there is the Griffin

I was in a match yesterday against a gold Timberwolf (I think he killed me too), but with lots of drops where people are in nightvision/heat mode, you probably miss a lot of the goldies. I have a few drops in my Gold mech (320 according to my profile stats), but I think most people don't even notice sometimes. Most are web surfing while waiting for a drop so they don't see the (G) beside the mech name, and then they are busy with their own things.

I did see someone with a gold DWF when the new Tera Therma was released. It stood out pretty good on Tera Therma. The time before that was during the early days of the Clan Invasion. I happened to see a TBR during that time.

Can you change the paint on the gold mech pattern? What if you go to some of the gray colors? Do you get a Platinum mech then ?

Can't change the pattern or color

Platinum is one of the other colors I've been asking him about

The guy was a rich casual, still in T3 after all this time. I just found it amusing that he threw money at a game that he doesn't play that often.

I haven't seen a single one since I got to T2. I'm guessing that most of them are T1; the matchmaker doesn't seem to put me in games with the T1s that often.. maybe one game out of five.

Speaking of shiny things, I kind of wish that PGI would make more premium patterns for mechs. The green alpha layer on Jade Falcon patterns and the Bounty Hunter is sexy. I like how it turns to yellow when you paint your mechs red.. (at least the BH does.)

2. No as in I do not own one.
3. There was a limited number of the mechs sold, there has been some time since then so people may stop playing, and there have been a lot of other mechs that have come out since then and if you are a collect them all kind of person then you probably are working on other mechs.

I would guess PGI hate the gold mechs as it means that they can never sell gold paint (which would make them constant income) along with other metallics.

The profile stats don't seem to list that anymore. There is now just NVA-Prime listed on my stat page, without listing the (I) and (G) variants anymore.

Like you couldn't take the gold paint, change the color to platinum or silver/chrome

I'd be interested in seeing a difference in stats between the prime and the prime (G).
I am honestly curious to see if there would be a difference in stats between a standard prime and the gold one based upon other people being "distracted" by it.

For that insane price... all of the Invasion mechs should have been gold.. You can get a freaking corvette class space ship in Star Citizen for this money. Ok that one costs 700 but just compare this value to a mere golden skin.

you mean comparing 500$ for 25mechs vs 700$ for ONE ship? That ship isn't even ferakin, just a rough triangle shape on courvette size, for 700$ I would like to soo something much! bigger.

your can't really argue here with price performance as mWO would have been a better one and those both high price deals aren't actually made for proce performance reasons.

But it looks to me for 700$ you only get a concept of a ship at this point in time

I'm not sure you're example is better

For 10000$ you're getting a handful of Ships that can be bought with ingame currency later
So they have lifetime insurance

What if you can buy insure for 6 months periods that are fair priced later on?

A gold mech is a 240$ paint job

That kind of money doesn't get me that far in SC black market

Personally, I would love it if the decal limit were increased by a few more slots... I'd paint a black knight in the most purest, glowing white I could find and plaster someone's name from the forums. I'd have my very own White Knight!

None of the colors are close enough to the gold to pull it off, though, as far as I can tell.
