They should do a "Design a Mech" competition with prizes. As talented as Alex is in drawing good looking mechs, I think many of us can come up with our own design that is also worth buying with cash, which will then be adapted to MWO by their design team. Thousand brains are better than one, after all.

Maybe the IS can finally get a mech that is not quirk-crutched? Who am I kidding...

eh, imma say no, just due to the reaction from fans at the roughneck. maybe after mw5 mercs and pgi gets more credit under its belt. mechcon was a great step forward in that regard, but there not to the point were they can do that and not get lynched yet. maybe after mw5 proves itself people would be more ok with that...

The catch is this entire fanbase seems to be allergic to anything that wasn't made past year 30xx.

"UGH, DARK AGE NEVER HAPPENED"

"UGH, CLANS NEVER HAPPENED"

Etc.

I could submit something aesthetically pleasing and practical to play, but if there's going to be a storm of nostalgia warriors, what's the point? It'll just be shot down with their 3025 era AC2s.

Show me a post that says Clans never happened. Some people think pre-Clan MWO would have had much better balance (which is true), but I have not seen a single person who said Clan never happened.

I personally hate the idea of non-canon mechs in MWO, but PGI had already opened the genie's bottle. Also, the reaction of the player base toward the Roughneck was not overwhelmingly negative. There were many who are fine with it.

Yeah I'm about to hack sarna and raid the paper vaults for tro's and just blanket all mech dates to 3015 with randals initials by them and that should fix this unnecessary stigma of oh it's a mech past this date it's gross because I have to keep my "pure BT image"

News flash to some of you even Jordan Wiseman likes the clans...

A poorly worded exxageration by me, but I'm certain someone out there is going to be on that line of thinking.

By definition though, the roughneck *is* canon. Which is probably where it's rubbing people like a file.

"I refuse to accept this as canon" as opposed to " this is now officially canon. "

Like the dune novels.

ya, im with you there. im in other threads defending it too. but its a hard sell atm, and what your suggesting is a bit to far out of reach.

Canon definition

Eh, considering it had lore written for it?

It's now a question of when, not if it is.

Loved reading all the BT books, read the first 2 DA novels and stopped there, DA was and is crap but I can see what they were doing with DA and the Jihad, universe reset.

Still, doesnt mean it was good for the BT universe.

Missile boating ASSAULT hero. Yeoman is a Heavy. And a filthy 60 tonner at that.

So far, not even a whisper about the Longbow, or a Blood Kite. I am getting sick and tired of waiting. And since I want something in the range of 85-90 tons, Spirit Bear is a no-no.

Nobody bought them a copy of TRO 3055, so they've never heard of the Salamander or Naginata (Though figuring out how to deal with the C3 Master comp would be a whole other kettle of fish, and/or they only have the super old 3025 from the first print run that doesn't include the Longbow.

What irritates me about the non canon designs are not that by putting them out, they're preventing actual canon designs from being released. Still waiting to be able to use a Whitworth, Javelin, and Charger 1A5, 1A9, and 3K... Plus, the Thug and Crockett/Katana could be interesting

I'd only be interested in a Longbow if PGI could:

1.) Figure out how to split critical slots between a torso section and its arm.

2.) Give us Arrow missiles.

(Then, we could also have the Bowman for the clams.)

Which still requires PGI to actually make the Hero version to boat missiles. I remember having high hope for the Stalker Hero to be able to boat LRMs back in 2013, but Misery turned out to be a DF mech. That was a disappointment.

A "MISSILE BOATING ASSAULT HERO"
This is what we need!
And please with this Quirks
"Ask teammembers to hold their locks 50%"
"Ask teammembers to enter the circle 40%"
"Give a push order and stand behind 30%"
and a built in warhorn witch say "Hold your target and I let it rain" and "I have 2000 missiles... I give you support!"

I would buy it :-)
