The mechbay came with it so as not to punish a player for receiving a gift.
Even if you could get a rid of the Centurion, I would think the mechbay would go with it. Or it should anyway.
P.S. Contact support and see if they will remove those items. They may even let you keep the mechbay :/

(But yeah, it took me a long time until I got the hang of it, I really hated the Cent at first. It has a steep learning curve.)

Even if they did remove the Loyalty reward Centurion, it seems unlikely that you would keep the mechbay. The Loyalty mechs, as well as Invasion Variant Prime mechs, founder mechs, etc, cannot ever be purchased, so they're unsellable since you would not be able to replace it.

I picked up the Cent really quickly, as it plays straight in to my preferred fighting style. Not only is it sturdy, but it's fast and agile, while also packing serious firepower.
It's a well balanced killing machine, and my best Mech. Can't understand how anybody could hate such a fantastic machine...

While I congratulate you for this I have to admit that you can solo any mech in any (other) mech without exception.
That being said, Cents are good'n'fun mechs, and this one is free. If you don't like it just ignore it, that's cool, too. But I doubt you'll get that mech bay free...

Considering this, it would be nice if your account was upgraded so that re-purchasing the same mech variant later on would make it come with the (I) or (P) or (F) or whatever other reward tag there might be; this could even apply to champions as well actually, and to push it even further there could be a c-bill cost set to re-buy hero mechs if you sell it for whatever reason.

The A(C) should be able to be sold.
The AH, yeah, can't sell that. Special edition mechs that come with their own mech bays have never been sellable.

I would because I dont like driving IS mechs. Id love to sell the AH and S to further fund the advancement of my Clanners and save up for future clan mechs I might have. As it is, I stripped all the weapons and engine off them to buy the SCR ive got when they were 45% off awhile back. To bad we cant sell armor tonnage and ammo back.
Although, if this game got a Mauler and if or when I get a Zeus, I might drive those, though I might put them on my other acct and go fight for Steiner like I was going to do originally.

There are two different types of 'Mechs that get listed in the Champions list. First, there are actual Champion 'Mechs that you buy with MC that give an XP boost. With these, you need an empty mechbay before you can buy and can sell to free up that bay.
The second type of 'Mech aren't really Champions, but rather limited edition 'Mechs. This can come from various sources; 'Mech packs like Phoenix or one of the Clan waves (the (P), (G), and (I) 'Mechs) , the Founder's program, Sarah's Jenner, the anniversary customer appreciation rewards, etc. These 'Mechs came with a mechbay, but that's not the reason you are unable to sell this 'Mechs. You cannot sell this type of Champion 'Mech because there is no way to repurchase them after their release window is gone.
So, which Champion Centurion are you talking about? The CN9-A? That one you should be able to sell, even if you received it as a challenge reward. The CN9-AH from the customer appreciation rewards? Can't sell that one because it's a special limited edition with no way to repurchase it later.

Back in game (from 1+ yr break) - and I am still "stuck" with this Champ Centurion mech I do not want.
If I can keep the mech bay, great!
If I can not keep the mech bay, great!
But how do I jettison this mech I do not want?
