As a big fan of the faction patterns, I have to say that I was really excited to see all of the old chassis getting refitted for faction pattern support. As a long time Steiner loyalist, I've hated having to play my older mechs without the camo to match it and painting other patterns with the Steiner colors just doesn't cut it.

That being said, now that these refits have been here for a while I can't help to notice just how...junky...they look compared to the faction patterns that have been released with new mechs from previous mech packs. Just take a look at the Zeus with the Steiner faction pattern on it. It's primarily the blue and white Steiner colors with a few splashes of the orange here and there with some really great inscriptions on it in German which really just lets you know that this is a Steiner mech.

Now fast forward a bit and lets take a look at a refitted mech. Go ahead and pick whichever one you like. They all look about a good six steps down in quality if you ask me. Gone are any inscriptions in a native language and now every Steiner refit has orange stripes and zig zags stamped all over them. They just don't match and it honestly looks like they were simply quickly slapped together just to get them out. I mean come on, the Atlas with Steiner camo should be sick and instead we have just...no. Not only that but who ever the artist is that's doing these refits needs to seriously consider just maybe taking a look at the previous faction patterns to, oh I don't know, make sure we're getting the same product here?

Anyways, I wasn't sure if I was the only one who noticed this but it really just bothered me with the lack of quality control on PGI's part when doing the refit. Really wish these would be redone correctly the way they should have been in the first place.

Wouldn't it make you're case stronger to post a Screenshot
Maybe more for comparison?

There, now its easier to read.

Ok.
While doing those camos are a ton of work for the texture artist, The OP has point.
You can check this even by looking at the Ghost Bear camo.
The original mechs from Wave 2 and 1 look way better than the new ones!
They have better polygon designs, better distinction between lower and upper part of the mechs... etc.

I think they even retouched them and they look less nice then they used to originally

I think someone complained about it even

But I think I do remember the ghost bear camo to look nicer on my wave 2 mechs

Edit
Sorry maybe that's what I had in mind

The later skins were most likely a rush job.

The Camo differs strong from mech to mech - I run mountain Camo on all of my mechs, not a very difficult to create Camo - but from only the head and shoulders get white (Atlas) to half the torso (Griffin)
Little bit more consistentcy would be great
add the rescale to the measure

The OP does have a point, especially when it comes to the "Steiner"-camo (actually Lyran Guards Brigade parade colours).

It should be primarily blue with a white stripe. I do not mind the orange highlights added by MWO or the geometric patterns, but recently both these elements became way too strong (see the old Enforcer vs the new Kintaro paintscheme). They should be reduced again in future renditions of the Lyran Guards colours.

Oh arn't those checkers sweet? Would be great to have the complete left side as checkers....
Maybe the "lyran sheme" should reflect all the Lyran units (orange/gold, blue; white; white checkers)

honestly, the kintaro camo still looks like a lot more love and mech related placemens were done.

Really? I only see two camos:
one is a tiger camo the other is a 155mm HE in a bamboo wood.

I like that they vary the camos a little but if those stripes are tiger stripes, they went wild in every direction! Who the frakk scared the tiger?

Sorry for quoting myself, but the new Bushwacker camo has the same problem: way too much orange!

Here is my take on how the Bushwacker should look like:

Left: Current paintscheme.............................................................Right: Proposal
