The gameplay will be like Transformers: War for Cybertron{WFC} of course, Fall of Cybertron is the sequel. I played for like half a year, this is a deffinite buy for me.
WFC is an arcade style 3rd person shooter that uses a class based system where the player gets to use a transformer and play one of their game modes.
Campaign: The campaign was divided into 12 chapters that are 6 devoted to Decepticons, 6 Devoted to Autobots. The Decepticon story arc comes first chronologically and it takes place during Megatron's rise to power and explains why the transformers species has to leave their home planet.
Highlights for the campaign is its creativity, with a good number of unique boss fights with multiple phases. It features drop-in drop-out during the campaign, allowing anyone to join or leave without having to stop the campaign session.
Campaign allows up to 3 players to assume the roles of Megatron/Optimus Prime and 2 guest characters, each with pre-set abilities.
Escalation: A survival game mode where you hold out against as many waves of increasingly powerful attackers as possible. It is a 4 player game mode where you get to play as the actual transformer characters vs either a horde of decepticons or autobots(based on the map).
Highlights for the escalation are the large number of transformers you can choose from, each have unique pre-set abilities that allow for a squad of players to specialize in roles to aid one another. Another special feature is economy, killing enemies drops money you can collect which is used to buy supplies to replenish health/ammo, to buy new weapons, and to unlock doors leading to new parts of the level.
Multiplayer: The multiplayer lets you play in the versus mode, there are 5 game modes but only 2 are popular(Team Death Match and Capture the Base). In the multiplayer you have access to 4 different classes of transformers, and you can use the existing chasis of actual transformers with the twist that you can paint them to your liking(limited to decepticon/autobot colors).
The classes...
Soldier: Has the most health but also has a large profile making him easy to hit. They transform into a tank with a powerful main cannon. The soldier focuses on powerful mid ranged weapons, putting him generally in a heavy fire support role.
Leader: Has the 2nd most health and the 2nd largest profile, making him fairly easy to hit. They transform into a SUV that can ram through enemies to destroy them. The leader uses primarily close range weapons, and features a battlecry that enhances himself and his allies. The leader is primarily an assault class, leading the charges.
Scout: Has the 3rd most health, and a small profile, making them difficult to hit. They transform into a sports car that can move extremely quickly and hunt enemies down with its dual machine guns. The scout is a specialized unit that relies on limited but powerful weapons that either shoot slowly or have very short range. Scouts can turn invisible and ambush enemies, so they mainly focus on hit-and-run tactics such as assassination.
Scientist: Has the least health in the game, and a small profile, making them difficult to hit. They transform into a jet that moves extremely fast and can travel anywhere. The scientist focuses on using his powerful special abilities more than shooting, they are a versatile class that can heal allies or damage enemies, deploy turrets and drain the health of enemies. Scientists are extremely fragile, and prefer to either support from behind friendly lines, or to use hit-and-run tactics like the scout.
And that's an overview of Transformers: War for Cybertron.
