What mechs are you grinding out xp for so that when the skill tree gets put it you will have a leg up?

As for me I am working on my Huntsman and if I get all of them mastered then I might go back to working on the Linebackers.

I thought all the XP was to be refunded and go into a sort of refund pool? If so, leveling or even grinding out XP on a specific mech won't benefit that mech unless you choose to apply the pooled XP to it. Right?

I'm just playing my Adder, as usual. Maybe a few more games in my Nova Prime than I would regulary do, but that's because I haven't mastered it anyways, and don't really want to buy a Nova besides the Prime and S.

I thought that all of the XP was going to the specific variants it came from? But things like owning 2 Timber Wolf Primes would make it so that they both have the amount of XP you have right now, effectively doubling it?

I also understand it so, that the XP get refunded as XP for the specific Mech where they come from.

Well, I will definitely try to get more XP expecially in my Hero/Special Mechs and also in all Mechs that have ECM ... i.e. my AS7-D-DC and my COM-2D

Beats me. When they said everything would be refunded I just assumed it would be a pool, but maybe you are right...I just assumed though that they would look at all of our stats and take the XP (there is a total tally of XP) and just dump that into our accounts unattached to specific mechs. Meh. If it is mechs specific, then I am still in good shape. (edit: by "good shape" I mean I have no need to grind...everything is mastered and then some for mechs I care about).

That's how I understood it.. so I've been playing each of my most favorite mechs until I get my first win of the day for the double XP.. then switching to champions to grind more XP. (Unless I get roped into group queue.. then I usually have to play fatties because Kurita loves to be mediums and lights.)

Not playing so far in this season. Bored of MWO until the patch hits. Not worried about the skill tree since I will focus those XP and GXP only on select meta Clan mechs.

But don't the FW fixes get put in this patch why not work on the FW mechs for IS instead of just clan meta?

1. FW fixes are pushed back to early 2017. You can probably thank MW5 for that, no matter what PGI says on the contrary. Posted Image

2. Not certain yet but judging from what I have seen in the new skill tree system, the top Clan mechs are gonna kick some serious *** after its rework. Which means all the top tryhards (including big mercs) will flock to the Clans, and since the bucket is consolidated (which means I could face those tryhard 12-mans no matter which IS faction I play as), I might as well become a Clanner too.

No you are going to be refunded all the XP you have earned into a general pool. Multiple variants don't get doubled XP because they only count once on the skill tree now so you only get the XP credit you earned, which is the once because it's currently shared by variant. Leveling them in the new system you'll have to pay for each one individually because every mech has it's own individual skill tree.
E.g. it only takes ~57K XP now to master a mech, if you have 1, 2, or 12 Timber primes it still only took 57K XP so that's what you get back. In the new system each timber will cost you ?XP per variant, lets say 75K XP, same or not. So leveling 2 TW primes in the new system is 150K XP instead of the shared 57K it would be now. The difference is that you can master that single TW Prime without spending any XP on other variants to unlock elite and master, the skills are not locked behind the rule of 3. So if you only want the prime you can master that one, even if its the only one you ever buy or ever play.
