So I was playing some Invasion games last night wit a few friends. Was running around in a Shadowcat, as you do when you hate yourself and be a terrible person.

So yeah it was on the frosty invasion map and was moving around from behind the gun across the open ground on the far left (From the defenders side). I poked out, took a few hits and moved back against the back wall and ran back toward the gun. On the way I heard no hit notification, got no red warning that I was being hit but suddenly heard "Heat Sink destroyed..." followed by "Left arm destroyed" and then I blew up and fell over good and dead. From like, almost full health.

I just assumed I was right on the very very edge of the LPL tickle range but I still got no notification I was being hit or sound playback.

Anyone else experienced this? D:

42 hp in total isn't much, a proper volley or a 2xgauss ppc combo that may crit your probably scratched (you said almost full) arm and it's gone.

But to die in the shadowcat you need to lose both ST's/CT would really need a wid to see what happened.

I don't doubt that I got hit by something nasty, the big concern is why I wasn't informed about it. Was just walking, then in about a second I lost an arm and then popped. Is very confusing D:

I think your pilot felt the same and hit the self-destruction button to end his own misery.

Aside from that,
Did you see which weapons hit you when you got your own result screen?

Also, I doubt an LPL could do enough damage on tickle range to make you faceplant into the ground. Although, when you died, were there any mechs visible nearby?
This sounds quite fishy.

I think this is a case of Host State Rewind (HSR) when there's a little lack of coordination between your client, the server and your enemy. So he probably hit your mech, but your client didn't immediately notice it because of lag, and then HSR makes the server just apply the damage later, without any indication that "Oh, by the way, you got hit by a f*ckton of damage a moment ago". So you receive the damage that was done, but without any sound or flashing red lights.

At least, that's the way it has been explained to me.

I've seen some enemies get destroyed a few seconds after I hit them and they weren't firing to overheat. I actually got the credit for the kill too. Is there a delayed trigger explosion for a crit or something?

Ammo explosion / gauss rifle explosion, yes. Especially when the explosion moves through several components before inflicting death.
