Well in all fairness, the Mk II is over weight by 5t.... at 85t it actually gains 1t of pod space, due to using a 340xl and 1t JJ's....

Not this mech optimization malarkey again.

75% of the mechs in Battletech/Mechwarrior are poorly optimized and designed. I always found those mechs more fun - It's more interesting to try and get performance out of an Urbanmech then cruising on X mech (Replace X with the better mechs, either in Battletech or MWO or MW4).

You seem to have a fascination for 2.0 mechs. Even the Nova Cat is just an under weight Night Gyr knock off.

In the end I would like to see everyone's favorite mech make it to the game. However, what does the Woodsman have to offer over the current mechs in the game? It's an omnimech with a locked standard engine that goes 64 kmph (86 with MASC). The Timberwolf does everything this thing does but with more heatsinks. The only thing that I can see that would be good is the durability of the standard engine, but it's gonna suffer hard with heat build up and limited build variety with that standard engine taking up room.

I'm not trying to invalidate your personal preference, only commenting on the peculiarities of it. Even when you mention a mech outside of the IIC range (Which, as a whole line of favorites, is weird in itself), it still ends up being a copy, both in and out of universe.

It's weird, is all I'm saying.

True, but for something to carry the name of one of the most efficient and effective mechs ever made in Battle Tech, I would expect it's successors to be just as efficient and effective. I would also expect it to be an Omnimech, the cutting edge of mech development in Battle Tech, not an old style Battlemech, that the Clans hardly push to front line duty.

Facts are. that the Mk II. isn't as efficient, it's really not. 5t lighter with the same amount of armour, same amount of DHS, same 4/6/3 movement is more efficient.

The Mk. III (Yes I mean that, Mk. 3) is an efficient little beast at 55t, but is not an Omnimech

The Mk. IV is just a bad version of the original, that is relying on FL armour to try and make up for the vulnerable and poorly thought out XXL engine it's packing.

You know what, fine! *flips table* How dare you insult my bizarre taste in mechs! I'm going to start spamming Russ on twitter and beg him to released the Mad Cat MK.2 so that it get's delayed for another two years.

Hey, go for it. I already know none of the mechs I want are ever getting released, so whateves. Sabotage all you like - A man who has nothing to look forward to fears nothing.

In 3050 the Woodsman is only being used by The Dark Caste, Bandits/Pirates, outcasts.

The Dark Caste is where the Clan rejects go. They are not officially acknowledged by the Clans because they are seen as honorless, but nevertheless the Clans all use the Dark Caste for the dirty missions.

Can MWO stand to include that much RP? I think so, I think the Dark Caste and the Woodsman create a wider Battletech Universe. And who knows, we might even get Pirate factions added.

It has MASC, no other clan heavy (in the game) has MASC. MASC is not just a bad substitute for an XL if you know how to use it. I'd love to rock the woodsman like an over-sized Huntsman with more armor.

I use MASC all the time on my Executioner. Mainly for an extra boost in hill climbing and occasional wall peaking. I don't find MASC really that useful on the mech itself since the Executioner is a giant walking CT (and currently the tallest mech in the game). While the Woodsman would be the first MASC heavy with the clan standard engine durability quirk, it's going to be a hard sell due to that very same engine being locked as an Omnimech (limited customization options and overheating problems to name a few).

I don't want to sound like I'm playing devil's advocate, but the past 4 mech packs (and I'm not including clan heroes because that was a wasted mech slot) were duds. I would not like to see PGI continuing this trend for very long. But pushing what I said aside, best of luck getting your mech in the game. I hope we all get our nostalgia mechs eventually.

Well, Janauary's mech is going to be a Light, so the hope flows anew.

Indeed. I worry how the Nova Cat would handle, however. I mean, the Night Gyr handles like it is moving through mud all the time. To the point where I almost refuse to pilot it, outside of the 6x UAC2 build because all the dakka! Still, though, the Nova Cat would be an amazing 70 ton platform for us.

If you want a clan heavy mech with masc and jump jets give me a Thresher any day.
Needs more variants though for proper use. But look at all those high weapon mounts which people'll love.

It would also be a fantastic option for the 60 ton slot. I mean, right now we have the Mad Dog, which is as one-dimensional a platform as omnis can get. Thresher would be a solid workhorse battlemech at the 60 ton breakpoint. Plus, the mech is still in use as of this time. Another 60-ton platform that would be entertaining to have would be the Glass Spider. Basically a lighter, probably worse Rifleman IIC, but with no futuretech.

Add the Fire Falcon and Pouncer to that list, and I'd say that, short of PGI introducing a 20-ton Clan light (which we need to fill all the tonnage gaps), the variety of Clan mechs would be sufficient outside of the assault bracket. Could use one or two more options there.

Oh my god, it would be an awesome easter egg if they were actual high speed tacos being shot out. You can opt between hard/soft shell...taco bell would sponsor and PGI would be able to fund MW5...
