Wow.

"The Marauder IIC is too hot."

Yeah, that happens when you use too many energy weapons. Putz. Ya wanna know a secret? It gets cooler as you use missiles and ballistics

No MAD-IIC support for smurfy yet.

Here's what I run though:

MAD-IIC: STOCK! Just kidding. XL 375 2 large pulse laser 6 medium lasers. I'd stick PPCs on it if it had uber quirks for them like warhawk but naw. Boring laser vomit. 28 heat sinks.

MAD-IIC-A: XL 375 3x UAC-5 4 medium lasers. What else would you do.. 16 heat sinks but you can lay off the mediums if you start climbing too high in heat anyway. Dakkadakkadakka!

Mad-IIC-B: I am having a very difficult time liking this variant. It'll probably be the one I strip and scrap. 2 SRMs aren't punchy enough for me, I hate LRMs, and 5 energy hardpoints is sub optimal compared to the 9 on the base variant. /shrug

nuts. Once Smurfy is up i'll be happy. I can build them then.

First drop in the new Marauder and I was head shot. Hmmm...hope that was a coincidence.

Simply put, i love it!
Playing the Prime (i know its no omni) with a standard laser vomit (2lpl 5 er med TC1) with a 400XL engine. It's just as nimble as I hoped it to be - grade A fun.

The head hitbox is rather small, but it's got the unfortunate 'phract and jager syndrome. Unlucky breaks are gonna happen when people are shooting for your CT. Well, I guess it is a lucky break for them, though.

If you played the IS Marauder you know how to play this one. Same survivability (well + Clan XL). You just go and wiggle yourself through the incoming fire.

Btw. PPC in the high LT slot is huge...just really huge. Why?

So I am stuck at work for another 1-2 hours and debating on adding a Reinforcement Pack and Scorch to my basic pack that I have waiting for me. Since they only inject once per hour I wanted to get some early feedback on if I should order them now and have them waiting for me when I got home.

So what is the early verdict? Are they any good?

the scorch can drop in multiple funny builds. im rolling to exp easily with 2gauss 2erppc xl325. but there are plenty other options... like 2LBX20 4SRM6, 2UAC10 4SRM6, and many more.
The D variant, ECM, 2gauss 1erppc or 2UAC20 2SRM6
And the IIC, 1LPL 6CERML, 30ish DHS, XL375. agile and even without double basics, heat management is easy.

DHS fills up slots very quickly so you end up taking a lot of guns anyway to fill up tonnage, even with a larger engine.

When you have 3 C-ERPPC...how many more guns do you need? (Or 3x UAC5 and 4x MPL?)

I too don't use lurms usually, but I implore you to try them with Mad-IIC-B. My build for it is XL400, 5xCERML, 2xALRM15 with 5 tons of ammo, 20 heatsinks and full jumpjets. It might seem lacklustre but it really isn't when you play it as a cavalry mech.

The combination of speed, big lurms and respectable enough direct firepower lends it capability to help friendlies in time when they have strayed a just a little bit too far from team.

I was literally just thinking of that build on it on my drive from home after considering that twin SRM6A might be a little anaemic.

I like it. It really doesn't need quirks. I'm awful with them but I like the base IIC a lot. Stock, only switch in a TC1, AMS, an XL380, and a few more heat sinks. It only has .99 heat rating but it's not too bad for a three PPC mech. It moves like a speed-tweaked MAD-3R and has roughly the same staying power, but more guns. Not too bad, frankly.

Try an alpha strike. I dare you. It's almost like a Nova.

I love it, I just wish the hardpoint layouts for the made up builds weren't exact copies of the standard Marauders. Especially the one that copies the 5D, if it had been able to carry triple Gauss/LBX20 like one of the lore builds can I would've been much happier.

If I have to save teammates that wander off I'd rather take a more reliable weapons system than LRMs..

In other news, though, I have my first mech with all 6 weapon groups used that isn't using macros. Never thought I'd see the day.

I think people in combat see the loadout and don't take it seriously.. but they don't realize just how heat stable it actually is if you're controlling your fire and are not overkilling your targets. Plus it's kind of fun compared to some more straightforward builds that only have 2 weapons systems.

EDIT: Ps alpha striking from resting heat only goes up to 76%. xoxo

So far I am liking all mine. They are powerful but not too powerful. What is even cooler is that I own all 7 variants and I have a different build on each and they all feel unique.

I actually put an LRM20 on the ~8 variant, with TAG and the usual LPL+ML lasvom.
I's fun, but it needs 4 mouse buttons to run and the 4th one is placed uncomfortably on my mouse. It even has a 5th one I cannot reach. ^^

The ~B variant, on the other hand, is equipped with 2ASRM6s + 5MLPs. This setup was rather obvious. Even if one can have something similar on Madcat.
Both with XL275.

I like the Mech, and yes, it's hot, but only because it strikes so hard. For this reason one should never run PPCs on it with their bad heat-efficiency, but rather pulse weapons in the energy slots.

I am guessing you mean XL375, because you would have a lot of excess tonnage with an XL275, not to mention be slow as ballz.

I am trying to get by without buying too many engines, I used the 400XL I got from some event, on my base model with 2LPL and 5ERMLs it works pretty good. Might have to break down and buy a 375XL to try the 2xSRM6A + 5xMPL build, I used that build on my Bounty Hunter II. Should work even better on clan side.

I'm beating the other MAD IIc's. I guess that counts for something.
