I imagine almost everyone is using the XL400 for the laser vomit?

375-380 gives you the optimal number of DHS

I'm using a 375XL on the stock IIC model. Keeping it close to stock with 3 ER PPC's, 6 ER small lasers, endo, standard armor, all heat sinks past that. I'm not doing super great but it's an initial fit for the layout.

*maybe* when you've got 30+ of some component like MLs? I dunno.
Never sell mechs.
Never sell engines.
Never sell stuff except boxes, which are a tax on the stupid.

... except I am profiting handsomely with the boxes, given that I am raking in MC, GXP, and C-Bills (that I actually need).
Not everyone is swimming in C-Bills with the opportunity to play every day, so please don't think that we're all in the same boat.

I installed a 400 on my IIC base variant. Almost max armor except head and feet (my style), 2 lpl 6 erml, filled up every single slot except 2 odd ones with heat sinks.
(Basically, 85 ton EBJ with 100 CT armor)

Except with the cost of MC for keys you'd be better off saving it up and buying an actual mech pack. There's a few breakdowns on the inexpensive mech packs you can buy and convert to cbills. Cicada, wasn't it? I admit I don't remember. However there's a number of good ways to effectively translate real money into MC and/or CBills and the boxes are nowhere even close. A gambling mechanic is designed to get people to lose money on the promise of 'winning big'. Statistically it doesn't pay out as well, which is why people do it rather than just create a consistent medium of exchange.

I sell any engine that isn't a multiple of 25 and even sell those if I actually have more than one of them just sitting there. Never regretted doing it. Mechs, yeah, those should never be sold.

Never bought a key myself, yet I was able to open 6-7 boxes Sunday night with the keys I've gotten just playing the game. I then just sold the remaining 20-30 boxes while I was there.

They actually run quite cold.
Sold some of the STD and XL 340 engines to get the big shinies. None of the IICs is without an engine, either.
