Due to IS puggies losing. Drop weights for IS will be moved to 400 tons. Clans will be restricted to machine guns and flamers.

And now clan mechs have a 1 in 500 chance every 5 minutes to eject their pilots and will continue as we monitor the situation of the number top tier pilots staying in one faction. #ICanGameDesign?

I think you could give IS a 100t advantage and it still wouldn't stop hordes of IS PUGs from losing matches for IS.

If there was a matchmaker, which put large teams against each other, and PUGs against each other, there'd be more even matches.

with the curent modes FW could be: Invasion mode maps only for groups. Pugs go the FW QP where only the other modes (including scouting) gets played. That way they will be seperated and when the sidemodes don't ahve a too pig impact on the outcome of the real invasion modes then the premades won't go (via snych dropping) into the sidemode games and keep droppign invasion mode maps.

First and foremost, I am happy to see the population issues being address now. I would much rather have an inelegant solution now than a perfect solution in three or four months when the FW population has flat-lined again.

My main complaint with the change is it punishes loyalist much more than mercs. Mercs can flip over to IS anytime the balance shifts to favor IS leaving Clan loyalists to deal with the lowered tonnage limits. Ironically the population problem was caused by the merc units in the first place.

Still much better than nothing.

Spot on. On both counts. The tonnage imbalance is just a temporary stopgap, hopefully it can keep some new pugs invested in FP enough for them to stop being so (let's say it) bad at FP modes. But I worry that - as you say - it will negatively affect Clan loyalists for no reason.

You know where this is going: it's time for Clan and IS loyalists to start talking to one another...

PUGs will always be stomped by organized teams, this is out of question and independant of sides.
But you see how Clans are rolling IS down the map at the moment? By units that already have been on Clan side, before the MAD-IIC introduction, and were doing the same as they are doing now but only one planet at time, not four, and beneath the JF banner, not the united Clan one. MAD-IIC is a bad excuse.
The new IS tonnage advantage is merely 10%, this is significant but in no way proportional to how much better Clans are performing. They are doing so not because Clan tech is so much better, but because it is slightly better and units want to take advantage of it.

This 10% drop deck tonnage difference won’t make IS LRM-PUGs automatically win, neither will it make organized Clan units lose, but it is supposed to give Clan units, esp. mercs, a reason to change sides. Remember that they often became Clan because of Clan tech in the first place, so IS needs to offer something in return. If the 10% difference leads to an imbalance after enough mercs changed sides, PGI can cut it to maybe 5% if this is how much advantage Clan tech actually gives.

except in this new system, neither faction is attacking nor defending. You're either winning or losing.
