I remember going to LAN parties and playing battlefield 1942. Greatest !@#% ever.

I wonder why 32 vs 32 used to be feasible on triple A multiplayer titles then.

And isn't now? Most FPS games with high image quality now are only 8 vs 8.

Could it be we've reached hard transmission limits of what broadband is capable of?

What's your take on that, bro.

You remember incorrectly, hitreg was abysmal in 1942, still tons of fun though and you could compensate for the poor hitreg by using AOE weapons.

First it was "BetaTM".
Then it was "SoonTM".
Then it was "Blame IGP".
Now it is "Blame CryEngine".

Inept devs are still inept no matter how you call it.
Its about time you people admit it.

the gaphics is what limits what the client can show, if you take some MMORPG's with RvR you will see them not going the max graphcis possible due to that. But all those gammer kiddies now need next gen graphix or lame, therefore to make a game run you will see less players in them.

Nah, I think it more has to do with folks writing the code...

It wasn't bad at all for me. I remember parachuting into an enemy base on some forsaken island and wasting twenty of them before they finally got me. But I was on DSL. Maybe you were still in dialup?

One seemingly hitreg issue is related to weapon convergence. If you do not have a locked target, your direct fire weapons just shoot straight ahead and not aimed at the crosshairs exactly. Sometimes this comes up with ECM mechs, surprise encounters, or long range shots. So part or all of your volley misses because it is not aimed at your crosshairs.
