Don't you touch the ballistic models on my Blackjack. It's one of the last 'Mechs that uses the old models instead of those disgusting new ones with their shoddy model work and lack of stripes.

As with some other things, longer the barrel, the better.

But I agree, generally longer barrels are better for mechs. The Warhawk and Mad Dog could definitely use a barrel length increase still.

Smaller hit box always better.

I never watch myself or my mech in the mirror. I could care less what my ego or folks think as long as I get to shoot my gun longer at more targets.

Bah, form>function when it comes to mech design. And snub nose PPCs and Autocannons look terrible to me on mechs that should have proper, y'know, barrels.

And making barrels incredibly short just because "I don't like my guns getting shot" is the equivalent of bringing a 1911 pistol to a civil war reenactment to me. It's just not right, and looks terrible, no matter how much it helps you.

God I hope your not on my team in a fun crap build.
Imaginary fun time in one hand. Final score in another. Which one pays Cbills and XP and creates wins.

Just how often do you think you get shot in the cannon?

Which one is fun and actually makes me play the game? That's the important question. Being the best of the best has nothing to do with why I drop. I drop because it's Battletech/Mechwarrior, and I love the setting and mechs. Doing something like, I dunno, making the Rifleman have tiny stub arms, would ruin it for me. So I'll always be on the side of looking cool over being 100% optimized.

(Also, pssssst, the C-Bills and XP? They're just as imaginary as the fun I have in my "crap" builds)

What is the point of C-bills and XP except to buy cool-looking stuff?

If a smaller cannon is .5% added survival. That is more assistance to my team mates than than the my self centered view of some desired "size" issue. Why care about this sh*t. Is this a pen ink drawing thing from a bazillion years ago for pewter turds on a map with dice.

My idea help my team. It is like playing White for chess.

You are grasping at the tiniest of straws. The number of times the size of the gun on your 'Mech has meant anything is likely smaller than the probability that you will suddenly be able to phase through a solid wall without breaking it.

It is still more of a real world issue than your perception.

The visual size makes ZERO positive difference to the mechanics of the game. A smaller hitbox does help survivability, even if it is less than 1%. I could care less how your "mech porn" gets you off. It is an imaginary picture that is not visible during game play. I could get a blonde girlfriend if I wanted an argument at this level.

I have to see my mech in the Mechlab, and other people's.mechs ingame. So yes, how a mech looks does matter, and is "visible during game play".

And if people stop playing because everything looks stupid, what then? So much for your short barrels, with nobody to admire how min-maxy you are, eh?
