PGI has a history of making Challenges that are mostly out of your control to complete.
Anyone else remember the fiasco when you had to win a certain number of games on all the maps but map selection was random so most people were battling RNG Jesus more than other mechs to complete the challenge?
That one was the worst by far.

This exactly.
Every single challenge that is:
- either absolutely random (such as that aforementioned map challenge, or this challenge when you have no influence if you will be Attacker or Defender)
- or that does not depend on you alone (such as the challenge when your lance had to stay together despite you having absolutely no control over other players who often had different classes of 'Mechs with completely different battlefield roles)
It only ends with frustrated players who are pissed off for being punished for something what they can not affect.
