Let's keep it simple. I'm voting yes. At least then we might get some good games in and eliminate one of the biggest b1tch3s about FP.

If there was ever an incentive to add new stuff, I think opening up tech to both sides would do it. I mean, you'd immediately obsolete virtually everything in the IS arsenal, and maybe with some luck we could get new tech....

Oh and a King Crab with UAC20s and an effective range of 360... that'd just be fun!

Actually, I'd be ripping out my clan tech and replacing everything with IS variant. Well, 'cepting the flamers and machine guns. I totally agree those're just better clantech. And gauss I suppose, though I've not used much gauss since they last nerfed it.

Some of the IS tech is really fun like the ac20 problem is you're not going to fit this on anything but maybe the 2c mechs. Those clan tech slots/weight is what you're getting more than the weapon.

Give the IS the choice to take max. 2 Clan-Mechs,

and the clans can take 4 IS-Mechs, if they want.

I think it's important that Clans are different than IS in how they are built and not for Lore. I don't know any of the lore.

There are plenty of ways to balance things out if:

1. Clans let go of the Mech superiority element present in lore on a mech per mech basis. Though I'd love to stick to the lore bits but it would make things even more difficult to balance outnumbered mechs of high quality versus older crappy mechs than trying to make every mech of same tonnage similar in quality to a player/team. I, among others, just want to have good games and equal choices of good mechs and setups to choose from on either side, and be competitive.

2. players treat MWO as a multiplayer tactical FPS. Mechs have and should have roles, not all of them will be super damage dealers. It should be ok to bring in mechs of all types into play, for fun, and balance is not at all about which mechs do more damage but the distribution of mechs used being pretty much equal no matter the reason players pick them (i.e. in other games, the "healer" doesn't do much damage but has a critical role. Same with the "tank" etc....).

I know, I'm in a Merc unit....

From the beginning of CW I was against the entire concept of Merc units being able to get contracts with the Clans. It was so against Lore that the idea was absolutely crazy. A year later I realized that Lore is so far gone in MWO and FW was not going to even come close to being Lore based that I accepted the state of FW and followed EK into a Merc contract. A year later, well it is what it is and it's not going to change.

Given what I've seen over the week, open up Mechs and Tech to IS Mechs. Just open it up and be done with it. Let them run either Clan Omni's or IS mechs with whatever tech they want. Hell let Clans run IS mechs with Clan tech. Level the field and see what happens.

It couldn't be any worse than it is now.
