Hey, let's bump up the timeline to 3058 so they can have LBX technology......

Because the Clans didn't make a single technological advance during that time.....I'm sure it'll be just as balanced as it is now.

Lets see new clan items between 3053, (soon to be 3054?) to 3058.
ER Pulse Lasers 3057
Streak LRMs 3057

IS between 3053 and 3058

Extended LRM 3054 (first introduced, limited production economical production in 3084)
Enhanced LRMs 3058
X Pulse Lasers 3057
ER Small/Medium Laser 3058
MRMs 3058
Thunderbolt Missile (non-rated version) 3053
UAC 2/10 3057 (UAC 20 isn't till 3060)
LBX-2/5/20 3058
Streak 4/6 3058
Light Gauss Rifle 3056

As for other items
Light Fusion engine first appearing in 3058 but was only a prototype
Bloodhound Active Probe 3058 (Not much in game improvement over the current Beagle)
Compact Heat sink Prototypes by 3058

If it was pushing to say 3059 or 3060

Clan would get
Heavy Lasers 3059
Advance Tactical Missiles 3060
Heavy Machine gun 3059
Light Machine Gun 3060
Micro Pulse Laser 3060
ER Micro Laser 3060
Watchdog CEWS 3059 (Clan Active probe and ECM for 1.5 tons and 1 crit)

IS would get
Hyper Velocity Autocannon 2/5/10 3059
UAC 20 3060
Laser anti-missile system 3059 (Clan version should be in game already as that was 3048)

Lol, both of those are useless in MWO terms. Streak LRMs wouldn't do anything LRMs don't already do, ER Pulse don't have any breathing room to exist between normal Pulse and normal ER laser that wouldn't obsolete one or the other, if not both.

Mostly, I'm just hungry for ATM's. A Shadow Cat with 2 ATM6's, 3 ERMLas, and a NARC beacon? Yes please!

Nah. Streak LRMs could have longer lock on times, but be truely fire and forget (Like real LRMs are supposed to be) and ER Pulse lasers would make excellent improvised mech and building heaters.

Or we could just make LRMs fire and forget, giving them a well deserved buff. Posted Image

Streak LRMs would likely be direct fire versions of the current LRMs as current streak srms don't work like streaks in prior games.

ER Pulse Lasers would be 100 to 200 meters of max damage range and only trade of is 2 more heat.

Well, sure, we could do that. If you wanted to set the forum on fire for a month. Hackusations and declarations of 'OPness' for days.

It always gets me when someone types that. (If you don't get it, try saying that out loud.)

Honestly though? Been playing a lot of MW:LL recently, and despite the fact that it's almost impossible to run lore builds in it+the insanity of some of the balance changes they made for weapons, how the LRMs work in it is just the best. I have a newfound appreciation for how much I hate the current LRM system in MW:O because of it.

Then I suggest you two move to Canada and get jobs with PGI to help them fix what they've f***ed up since day one.

Because it's becoming increasingly clear they are incapable of doing it with the people they have working for them currently.

Well, a cERMPL would be overlapping the cERML too much. At just 100 more meters, why would I want to take cERML when I can just boat cMPL and have an awesome mid-long range poke machine with that awesome 0.85 second burn? And then let's throw a TC7 on it and combine with module/skill tree bonuses...

Yup.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect the LB 20-X may be the reason why the current tech level has been drawn in the sand. They can't include it without putting it on some canon mech variants, and they can't put it on canon mech variants without introducing crit splitting, and they can't include crit splitting because either they can't figure out how to change the construction rules, or they fear the rage of all the clanners who have been begging for omnimech construction rules changes.

Oh well. One way or another, the LB 20-X is just another nail in the coffin my dreams of a Sunder lays in.

It would be very simple affair if PGI reduced LBX20 slot by one so it can be mounted without crit-splitting. I doubt many will cry about it. **** em, MW4: Mercs didn't use BT crit slot rule and people were fine with it.

MW4 didn't use crits at all, though.

I don't think it's the changing of the LB 20-Xs physical install stats itself would upset people - It's the cavalcade of complaints about 'Well, if you did it for the LB 20-X, why didn't you do it for Y weapon and Z engine as well.' It's just another can of worms that probably would have been ok if it wasn't well past it's expiration date.

IS LBX10 is bad, and you should feel bad about using it on any mechs that is not heavily quirked for it.

Have you ever tried a quad LB10X Mauler? I did so on a whim, and because of attitudes like yours I expected it to suck... It. Owned. Faces. Yet another instance of a mediocre weapon becoming good when mounted in quantity.

Modules are going away soon, skill tree getting reworked, and would you take 1 ER/Medium pulse over 2 ER Mediums?

I'm not sure why, but I hate AC/10s. Maybe it's a velocity thing?

A better question to ask is whether I would take 6x cERMPL instead of 2x cLPL and 4xcERML and the answer is yes. That's 48 damage over 0.85 seconds versus 54 over 1.15 at roughly the same range. cERMPL wins that trade because it has 56.5 DPS/burn vice 47, 42 heat vice 44 (assuming cERMPL are 7 heat).

So a slow Assault mech with weapons that are effective at limited range? I can see that it being good in pug queue where there are plenty of potato opponents. Hell, I am owning faces with LRM only Archer.

LBX10 is still a bad weapon. Especially without quirks.

Velocity is kinda low and range is a bit short, yeah, but a MAL-MX90 has 15% quirks to fix both!

That is assuming they don't give it a longer burn time like they did with all ER weapons. Only Mechwarrior game that had burn time was MW3 and that was only on the Pulse lasers as they were a constant beam till you let off the trigger or burned out the charge.
