I haven't seen Canyon Network at all in 2 or 3 days of gameplay.

Anybody else notice this?

Weird. It has not come up for me for a long time.

It's a lot more rare these days but gets voted on almost every time it's available.

People like it, or at least the consistent voting for it would seem to suggest that they do.
So of course it would only be reasonable to pull it from rotation. By god you WILL admire the trees and fog of other maps.

Same, noticed yesterday it was out of rotation. Played all day, saw it a handful of times.

The thing that surprises me is how many times people vote for Polar Highlands. I guess most people are LRM slinging noobs.

Polar Highlands, on the other hand, was in vogue. Especially Escort. I have no idea why people like Escort on Polar so much, similar to how I can't fathom why so many like Domination on Alpine...

I noticed that too.

Is there Escort on Canyon Network? If not, that may explain why.

This is odd because I'm getting sick of playing it. Canyon and Crimson straight have been my two most common maps for the past three days.Actually had three canyon dominations in a row followed by a Crimson straight skirmish only to get a canyon conquest next match.

North American Server if that maters.

I like Escort on Polar for two reasons.

The ECM tower placements make them less effective for either side removing the annoying "magic" effects from the match.

The map is large enough to pull some interesting mauvers as defenders. Allowing you the space to fake out the enemy mechs and draw them away from the VIP. Smaller maps don't really give you much option other than a roving murderball tactic.

I don't know why, but I've seen far fewer maps that have covered approaches and lanes with higher temperatures, and way more of frozen city, alpine peaks, polar highlands, and crimson straight..

My votes usually go out to HPG, Canyon, Mining, and Tourmaline.

My votes are never for forest colony or polar highlands; I personally feel they are the worst designs and bring out some of the worst playstyles I've seen of any "tactical" shooter.

I'm guessing they occasionally pull certain maps out of rotation, or put on really low frequency. I kind of like it ... it feels like if they always offer one of Canyon/HPG/Mining, that'd be all we play. Take some of these out and we get some variety, at least once in a while.

I vote it most times it's available. I virtually never run LRM's. It's an interesting map to me, no matter what build I'm running.

Now that you mention it ... I noticed that, too.

I think it has to do with Escort, first of all: new game mode -> higher chance of being in the vote pool, second: event -> higher chance. No Escort on the smaller maps, no Canyon (or HPG).

Although i am not a big fan or a big hater of Escort, i would much rather play Canyon and HPG Skirmish 20 times in a row than the current map/mode pool, which was yesterday (for me) either Crimson Escort or Frozen City Assault.

That's the issue. I'm also getting Alpine Peaks a lot less than before. It was never hugely popular, but now I don't even get to vote for it, due to Escort game mode.

You only get to vote for Canyon, Alpine, Viridian Bog and HPG Manifold if Escort is not an option. This kind of limits which maps get voted for whenever Escort is not an option.

HPG Manifold is still 90% of my matches, feels like.

I play on Oceanic and NA server and apart from Forest and Terra, all maps feels pretty equal atm. There is a bit less of Mining/HPG (thank god) with the slack being taken up by Polar and Frozen. Even game modes seems to be evenly spread.

4 months ago, 80% of games were Skirmish on Mining/HPG so this past week has been quite good for me in terms of variety.

Personally, I pick the mode first then decide to either up my chance on my preferred map or farm multiplier.
