ComStar was literally pulling forces from completed Trials to reinforce lines in others. The reality of the Wolf victory was that they were fighting the forces assigned, plus units pulled from other fights. ComStar did not get a counter attack before they called it...but Wolf was already so heavily entrenched by that point it would have been a staggering loss of forces for ComStar. Focht knew this, and called it before they lost more mechs and pilots.

Tukayyid was just after the smoke jaguars got smoked in luthien.
Also tukayyid was not staggered trials, it was one grand trial, focht did not pull troops from "completed trials" he redeployed forces that no longer faced any opposition in their area of operation. The clans coming in "waves" was due to their honor thing about being first, focht never said that they would have to deploy in waves and give him time to redeploy. As such the redeployment is less "desperation move" and more using what he had properly.
