Sleipnir Help

Just bought a Sleipnir in the sales thinking that it would be pretty fun to run with a couple of fairly high mounted ballistic slots. It has two ballistic slots in each side torso, one above the other, and I figured I can pad the bottom slot with machineguns.
Unfortunately it seems that anything bigger than a (U)AC5 always seems to end up in the bottom slot no matter what? Is this correct/intended? If so then is this documented anywhere to help me avoid having such issues in the future?

Thanks for the info. Is 4 UAC 5 the way to go then?

You can not try it in testing Grounds, but you can check out some things before buying .

Then change stuff around:

And the visual representation immediately changes:

That's because you can fit 2 Clan Gauss/AC10 in a side torso.

Glad you posted this already, this is what I was gonna say.
But yeah, the simple solution is to just bring 4 UAC5s or 2 UAC5s/2AC5s and a big XL.

Yes, obviously. This was already explained in the thread. I know why it's the case.
I can appreciate that it's kind of random which mechs get high mounted hardpoints, because it's ultimately up to Alex Iglesias how the mechs are designed and he just tries to make them look cool. But beyond that, I think the weapon geometry is often kind of inconsistent and it makes certain mechs less effective or less pretty than they could have been.
Look at the Phoenix Hawk, for example. The placement of weapons is arbitrary and makes the mech both uglier and less effective than would otherwise have been the case.

Yep, I knew about viewing it in the Mechlab so no problem there. But how the heck did you get to that last screen? Is there some magic button that minimises the mechlab bit whilst still in loadout view that I've never noticed before?
What is this sorcery?!

In 'MechLab view, notice the little Menue on the TopRight, just next to the word "Warehouse" ?

You choose "column" as they Layout for the view you are wondering about .

Personally i think 2xUAC5 + 2xAC5 and a big XL is a better build. Mauler does 4xUAC5 with better weapon quirks and shield arms and the engine cap isnt relevant to that build, since you cant even max engine anyway.

The whole point of getting a hero mech is the cbill bonus so that's a good reason to run the UACs in Slepnir over a Mauler.

Yeah I did that to give it a different feel, I like it. Trucking along at 73 kph in a 90tonner feels good, especially when the Black Widow runs the same build but slower and less armor.
