Hallo, from when escorted mission started I always (less 1 time played) as the attacker, for the statistic science this is almost impossible, also in each game in wich I played the attacker team lost, maybe ( an effetctively is) that I am a bad player, but, seems to me impossible that I were always in the attacker team and the attacker also always lost...

another question: I saw a gauss armed Scorch that fired the gauss without the normal procedure...he waited for the time to charge as usual, but I'haven't heard the charge ruomr ant the charge color charge, it's possible to set the gauss to fire after a numer of seconds aftre the activation simly seeking the target wit the pointer?
thank you

Ok, so to answer your questions serriously:

1/ how many escort games did you played? 10-ish? 20-ish? None of those are representative sample sizes.
Anyway, the probability to (almost) only play as the attacker is indeed low, but definitely not null. Considering the MWO playerbase, it is bound to happen to someone. Congratulations, you're the winner.
As for losing every game, on a small sample it's also possible, especially since you have a low win/loss ratio overall.
Improbable does not mean impossible.

(and I don't take in account the possible cognitive biases that might distord your impressions - maybe you just forgot the victory you got)

2/ how did you observe that? from your mech or (being dead) from their cockpit?
If I remember correctly in spectator view you don't see or ear the gauss charge, hence the impression it fires instantly.

Ok, I appreciate your answer, for the gauss rifle I had not know this particularity..thank you, for the statistics I cannot agree..my last statistics exam wasa a long ago, but 10/15/20 games always from the same side and with the same results are for me incredible...
Thank you for the politeness, I will appreciate if some other player will report us his observations about escort missions

I've had a decent variety, both in sides played and sides won.

Strangely, I never been an attacker on Escort.
Never.
Though I've had about ... well lets see. Yay stats.
17 Escorts. And evidently I've been an attacker once.

o.O; I think there is something that will be addressed in a forthcoming patch.

Spectating you will not hear or see the Gauss mechanics at play (it's one of those 'unnecessary' things to spam the internet connection with).
Near another 'Mech, you will not hear a Gauss charge. This is unfortunate because it could serve as a much needed warning when you're being ambushed or near an enemy sniper.

Ok, thank you...for the gauss I think it's solved, thank everyone, but as you see..for the escort...maybe the lower grade player in the queue are put in the attacking team??

I'd guess you're simply having bad luck getting in the attacker team in Escort. I'm getting both in relatively similar proportions. Since you bring up statistics, I believe if you do a 50-50 coin toss 10 times, there's around one-in-a-thousand chance of getting either heads or tails ten times in a row. Which is highly unlikely, but not like winning the lottery. Posted Image I've had worse luck happen in tabletop games...

As it is, the escort mode seems to heavily favour the defender. At least in pug queue. Though they did reduce the VIP Atlas armour recently, and I've been getting some defender losses recently.

An easy method to winning Escort as the Attacker...

Headshot. Shoot the VIP Atlas's left eye with about 40 to 50 damage. You win.

Another method: Ignore the Atlas. Pick off the defenders.

I have lost in defense of Escort. They killed the defenders not close to the VIP, then swarmed the remaining defenders. The entire time they completely ignored the VIP -- at the time though the VIP had 1800 health.. (A typical Atlas something like 900 to 1000 health)

I played 7 escort games, 3 times attacker, won 4 .... means 2 of 3 attacker games won.

How do you find out how many of which side you've played ,or did you just keep track manually? Either way I apparently suck at the game mode with a 12-21 record.

I've played both attack and defend and have won and lost playing either. Seems to be working fine for me.

I've only lost one defense butt tells me I lost twice in the mode. The other must have been an attack

Its random... I think i only have been on attack once, maybe 10-15 times?

But as for random chance.. Yes you could be on attack side 20 times in a row, it might be a low % but it can happen.

Sorta like when i was playing Wasteland 2 the other night, and in a single round of combat i had 3 weapons jam! the jam chance is only 2% (no they were not the bollends special, or what ever they are called) I've also had rounds that every single person missed when they all were over 85%..

So yea, bad luck streaks can and will happen when it is a random number generator.. and honestly in wasteland 2, i often think the numbers are just wrong.. but people assure me, that they have dug into them and they are right..

So.. yup.. you can end up on one side 20 or 30 times.. it's the luck of the dice.

Every time you drop in Escort there is a 50/50 chance you on attacker, the odds doesn't change with more match you played.
Sometime the Gambler's fallacy kicks in, and we think the odds are stack against us.
So far I have drop in about 20+ Escort match, and have end up on either side.

As for losing every match, there are many reason to this.
Ranging to bad average pilot skill in the team to ignoring VIP, this is multiplayer and the variable is too numerous.
If you are playing solo or PUG, improving your own skill is the best bet, since coordination between teammates will be rare.

For a while every "defend" was a win and every "attack" was a loss, You could pump everything into the VIP and it would not stop him. At least 10 of each.

But they have been adjusting the armor of the VIP and attackers are now winning more.
