Don't pug in CW alone...

Posted Image

If you're going to pug or semi-pug drop in CW/FW you're going to have a bad time; especially as an Inner Sphere pilot. If you're clans though, it's super great and fun and keep doing it.

Anyways for Inner Sphere pilots.. instead of getting on here and complaining about pre-mades, what you should be doing is finding your own pre-made.

And where can you find these mythic pre-mades?

In faction hubs. And if your faction hub is a wasteland, then at very least the FRR/Kurita Faction Hub. All night this week i've been leading 12 mans that is made mostly made up of whoever is available (and willing to follow orders!). I've only rarely ever had more than 4 Isen with me and on average had only 3, so these aren't like high tier comp pre-mades with my unit either.

And how have we done you ask? Well..

Posted Image
I have the highest W/L ratio in the entire loyalist FRR.

But you don't have to find me specifically, other people are always trying to run and fill out 12 man drops. Rather then be a random pug at the whims of fate come to a faction hub and actually win some matches.

You might not win them all, but you'll stop losing them all.

Been saying this all along, if your tired of being a Pug Stomped Baby Seal, by premades that play like a TEAM, than stop being a Solo Rambo Baby Seal, and join a premade/unit, and learn how to play a Team Based Game like a TEAM...... might not win them all, but will win more than when your Solo Rambo Pugging.......

AMEN to the Jarl. He speaks the sense, again.

(or whatever that translates into Vikings, I'm a bit rough on my Ragnar Lodbrok)

Stop crying about balance and get into some groups, learn some strats, become a better pilot...

Win more games?

my 2c as a eternal puglander (i do organize in match if there is a dc and im not drunk or w/e, but i dun have any incentive for a unit/guild here since i see little point in it Posted Image )

There will always be complaints in a pvp game, thats lyfe wherever you go, the issue for me is not that there are so many premades (there is no MM so that is SOP, not saying this is "good" but that this is to be expected) but that the tech imbalance has been what it is for soooooo long. I agree in most matches the issue that decides victory or defeat is predominantly the skill disparity and not the tech. But the tech imbalance does affect the pool of players available in the first place (which is why even dane says puggin in clans is fine but IS is suicide) anyone who really wants to win is going to the side with the advantage, and this skews the population. That being said I don't want the tech to be normalized, i just want each side to have their niche, i.e. IS should actually be better at melee/cc and clans should be better at range (doable by puttin FUN MELEE in with IS getting their melee tech Posted Image, and for those saying the coding is impossibru, look id be ok with placeholder melee on the same level as how mektek stuffed in melee in their mw4 mod just make a weapon with paltry close range).

Even if you team up as a 4man or even as a 2 man it's hard to compensate for the tonnage differences between the two factions if your clanner vs IS and an avrage pilot.

groups of 8 or more = winning. groups of 7 or less are less likely to succeed.

No argument there, but that's what I'm getting at. Unless you're in a larger unit that has decent amount of pilots that play FW you're reduced to smaller groups. Add to that the tonnage disparity, it's a tough hill to climb.

The way I see it is thus; drop weight is the way it is due to the amount of "high teir" players on one side or the other. So if you're not a high teir player and are on the clan side you already have a handicap. As much "get gud" you want to throw at it that's not #balance thats punishment, and no amount of one sided fights will teach you anything other than "well that was time well spent".

Look, I'm ok with no MM in FW. But the DW needs an adjustment for the clans.

the glory of community teamspeaks man. you dont need to be in a unit to go on to your factions biggest teamspeak, and hop arround asking everyone to come join a group your starting. eventually, if your bold enough, people will start just coming to you when your on to do fw, because they know you can form a group. we just dont have many people that i know of who are willing to gather together people for a 12 man on a consistent basis.

I've hoped around before on Strana* clan pub and there's not a lot of people on it compared to IS. Aside from that hurdle, you are gathering 8+ people together that (probably) never played together before. So not much difference between that and current matching mechanics. VOIP works fine in game so I don't want to say your point is moot but its not as nessisary as i think it is.

But I will not deny the player base is somewhat better if you can find them on ts. And that's also depending on finding good players that can compensate the lower drop weight with better piloting skills and situational awareness.

It just can't be as easy as joining a TS saying "have room?" and following orders to stop loosing every game can it Dane?

That just seems to be way to simple. There has to be a trick. Secret handshake? Some sort of hazing process? Only l33t meta mech drivers only? Has to be far more complicated then joining a TS and asking for a spot.

Honestly most of the most fun matches i've played, aside the good ole PKRL vs Evil, Evil vs kcom, D'C vs 228/mj12/kcom/Evil, and all of the other insane 12v12 mans in invasion i've played have been from solo pugging. I'm sure almost everyone on these fourms has seen me solo pug, and its always a blas (aside alpine peeks, **** that map)

Who would we need to tweet at persistently to get a tab in the Faction Play side bar on the left that is simply "Public Comms" and is a list of openly accessible Teamspeak servers and Discord channels?

Still not a perfect solution to having an in game Hiring Hall, but it would be a step forward.

Yeah or in a smaller unit that not always has enough people, just ally with friendly units.

I'm CBR1 and we drop quite often with other units like 420 or the 69MG if we have complimentary contracts.
We also often actively look for friends that are online, unit doesn't matter as long as we can play with each other due to the side we're on.
And it's never a problem to just drop by these units and ask if they have room.

Comms and coordination always win the day............welll and a few Annihilators on Siege Defense....;) :P

Oh I was pretty sure that was more of a cunning and thinly veiled trick those FRR Freebirths like to use in the hopes of getting unsuspecting Clan PUGs to take hook, line and sinker along with fishing rod and last years copy of Angling Times.

It's not this easy. Some people aren't welcome in places where the Dane holds sway.

Group of 4 carries hit sweetspot for me :).
4 people that can focus 1 target obliterate most average matches and dont feel rek most time :P
