Only reason I managed to pull that much damage afterwards was an incredible amount of wiggling and twisting between shots, but there was a player patient enough not to shoot into the twists and take the head anyway. Posted Image

That's common for the Battlemaster unfortunately, due to its hit box location, though IS tech has nothing to do with it.

Clan tech just allows you to headshot it from even further Posted Image

It's probably time to reduce the size of the BLR's head component hitbox.

The cockpit hitbox itself is not that big. It is the placement.

Remember when the Atlas had a head hitbox that was like an orange on a toothpick and bringing one was death? Good times.

The current IS assaults are for the most part glass cannons. I find using lighter and faster medium and heavy mounts usually gives me better results.

This clearly points to the direction where IS needs tankier mechs with better hardpoints (can you say marauder 2?) and then perhaps exaggerated buffs are not needed for the current ones. I think we only have a poorly matched selection of counterparts on each side that needs to be corrected by PGI being more careful what mech they'll release for IS next as the clans have been getting alot of the most interesting types in the last year while for IS has been disappointing mostly.

Your experience is not the norm. Battlemasters are not dying left and right from headshots. You faced a competent opponent and lost. They are still one of the best I.S. mechs, especially the 2C.

I am not saying the head is not a juicy target, but I don't know if it is worse than the Marauder IIC's cockpit.

I dont drive battlematsers (only highlanders mostly), but I have read multiple comments on these threads battlemasters are easy to headshot once you know where to aim.

Yeah, I started out in the Catapult. That sorry thing used to be all head.

The entire head on all Mechs counted as cockpit hitbox when the game dropped in pre-founders closed beta. The entire Atlas head as cockpit. The entire hunchback head. The entire paned-cockpit of the catapult.

Thing are a little less heady now...

That's weird, I really don't have that issue and I play my BLR-2C alot.

I've had more issues with SHD and HBK/HBKIIC head hit boxes being opened from stray fire.

The last head shot I got was with my Mad IIC, on another MAD IIC, at point blank with 2 LB10 and 2 PPC :P

Use them plenty, haven't ran into it being an ongoing major issue with the BLR (I've noticed it now and then due to the placement given it's primarily a hill humper setup, but not enough to go "FOR **** SAKES").

The Marauder IIC on the other hand...wow, that's some garbage cockpick hitboxing right there, or, at least seemingly is given at the very least atrocious placement.

Yeah, I would love if headshots were more common in this game. In other games, going for headshots is a viable and risky tactic. The chance of getting a headshot is lower than aiming for center mass, so it's a gamble. In MWO, it's kind of a gamble because you risk doing a lot of damage to the cockpit and then being unable to hit it again. But it's not so much a gamble because very few people are able to consistently hit the cockpit, except at point blank when the opponent overheats and shuts down.

Being a gauss rifle sniper with advanced zoom and going for headshots should be a viable tactic, IMO. Right now, getting headshots is so rare that you're basically just aiming for CT at long range.
