After this games stellar reputation for quality and enthusiasm for the game and universe, who will be throwing their hard earned social security checks at PGi come MW5? Just think about all that lost potential PGI will bring us in the future.

This is the forum for MechWarrior:Online, and if you want to do nothing but insult people over a different game, then you can do so in the off topic area.

While it is depressing how many people are clamoring for pre-orders of MW5, this is a... poor way to discuss the subject. It's counter productive and needlessly combative.

But I suppose that's the whole point, isn't it?

While I seeing MW:5 based on trailer is good so far, but I will never pre-order it or buy it on day one. Just wait trusty reviews comes in and see if they actually manage to achieve expectations on release. Also the game must working stable and solid on day one release.

I'm certainly not clamouring for a preorder for MW5, but I'll absolutely buy it on release day, no doubt, unless early reviews show it being non-functional or badly broken.

I don't preorder any games anymore, though, so it's not a pgi specific issue. I've just been burned too many times by non-functional games at release, and ultimately there's no advantage to preordering anyways.

Because for all the silly vague "games stellar reputation for quality and enthusiasm for the game and universe":

1) The combat in MWO feels good. One will assume the combat in MW5 feels the same. Good on that.
2) Enthusiasm for the game and universe? Previous Mechwarrior titles were hardly "pure Battletech" and certainly no worse than MWO; MWO is no different in that regard, and I loved the old Mechwarrior games.
3) PGI's balance is sketchy at best, though generally improving over time (if very slowly); but balance is waaaaaay less of a concern in a single player game with adjustable difficulty levels.

So.... what concern is there for a single player game? What specifically does one feel PGI will screw up?

PGI made or no, if the game is adequate I will buy it. Simple as that. Battletech should live on.

I probably won't pre-order it (i'm quite against pre-ordering games in general).
But if the game comes out, people say good things about it, sure i'd pick it up.

That is, unless they announce that MW5 will have the Scorpion in it.
Then i'd pre-order the living **** outta the game.

The PGI track record isn't a good one by any standard, so it's pretty fair to assume that MW5 will be another failure for them.

After they burned all the bridges with the Founder's program I don't know who will be willing to invest except for the most devoted of whales. It's not like MWO has a very good reputation to begin with.

There are plenty of people who want honest to Kerensky FPS single player Mechwarrior game. Naturally I wouldn't be enticed with pre-order BS, but if the game turns out to be good, then there is no reason for any MW fan to not buy it.

HBS MW game is exciting as well, but it is a turn based game.

Threads for the announcement trailer already exist,
if anybody would like to carry on constructive discussion.
