Thoughts On Supercharger For Mwo Omnimechs?(Poll)

Supercharger works like a MASC system that can be Mounted on any OmniMech,
the catch is that it must be placed in a Location that also has an Engine(STD=CT)(XL=LT/CT/RT)
Superchargers also Damage the Engine(where its located) not the Legs when ever its over used,

Superchargers take up 1Crit Slot & weigh 10% of the Weight of the Engine(Round to Nearest 0.5ton)
the Below Supercharger Stats are Based on the Current C-MASC Stats from the FebPatchNotes,
=
Supercharger MK I(Light)
Speed boost increased to 20%.
Turn rate increased to 40%.
Acceleration increased to 200%.
Deceleration increased to 190%.
=
Supercharger MK II(Medium)
Speed boost increased to 23%.
Turn rate increased to 35%.
Acceleration increased to 190%.
Deceleration increased to 180%.
=
Supercharger MK III(Heavy)
Speed boost increased to 28%.
Turn rate increased to 30%.
Acceleration increased to 185%.
Deceleration increased to 175%.
=
Supercharger MK IV(Assult)
Speed boost increased to 30%.
Turn rate remains at 25%.
Acceleration increased to 180%.
Deceleration increased to 170%.

the SuperChargers saw Main Stream Production in the Year 3078,
but has been in Production prior for centuries, as early as 2624,
(Supercharger on Sarna)


=My Changes Per Balance=
rather than go off just the Mech Engine Weight, i feel they should go off STD Engine Weights,
(a HBR with a Supercharger equipped would then weigh 3.5Tons instead 2Tons)
also i would add in a new Rule that doubles this weight if the OmniMech has Endo,
(a TBRwith a Supercharger equipped would then weigh 10Tons instead 3Tons)

i feel these Changes will Aid all OmniMechs that have STD Engines Already(none Yet)
as well a Buff to Any OmniMech that was built with Ferro instead of Endo(MDD/WHK),
(this also Helps Future IS OmniMechs(when they come out) with more Options)


do you think This Option for OmniMechs will help OmniMechs,
OmniMechs Currently in MWO(ADR, IFR, NVA, MDD, GAR, WHK)
and Even New ones we may see Someday(Raptor, BlackHawk-KU, Sunder)

Will Totally Buy it when it comes out,
lets see 25Ton mech, 118.8kph(w/o SpeedTweak), 11.5FreeTons, OK,
-2tons for a Supercharger(using my Penalties(XL&Endo) Speed when Active = 142.6,
i think -2tons & -1crit is worth giving my Raptor an Extra 24kph, even if it is only for 7seconds, ;)

even though its been listed Unusual or Experimental tech since 2624,
its not listed as Lost Tech, as it doesnt have an Extinction or Return date listed,
so we have to assume its been in production since then just not Mass(MainStream) Production,

Most IS omnis still have IS XL engines... so even if/when IS light engines come out IS omnis, as clan omnis can't change things, still go boom with one side torso off... Posted Image .

true, but im hoping this will be added, to at least give IS OmniMechs more Options,
a +20kph boost of speed can get you out of trouble in some instances,
and the twisting help can really help with well twisting,

While I appreciate the thought, the Raptor's whole schtick is being able to run 8x MedLas in high mounts. If I spend 2 tons on a Supercharger, I'm now running a worse Locust. The novelty is gone! D:

On a more serious note, I simply don't think it's appropriate to include an item that's sole purpose is to bypass construction rules put in place to balance out omnimechs. If the game is in a place where modifying omnimech speed is appropriate, then just unlock their engines and avoid the weirdness of including one bizarre piece of experimental tech.

with 9.5 tons free you can still run 8MLs but you can also Run them and get out of there, you can also run 4ML 4SPL,

Just what we need. Mechs going even faster. They already go faster than they were ever meant to because of engine swapping. I don't think they need to be able to go any faster. Even in short bursts.

its not an item designed to bypass construction rules, its an item that adds options,
also we arnt following True OmniMech Construction rules,
if we did all OmniMechs could mount any other OmniMechs OmniPods or run JJ / ECM,
that said, OmniMechs where Powerful in TT because of the fact they could be quickly customized in the Field,
that advantage doesnt exist in MWO, so OmniMechs are Weaker then BattleMechs in MWO,

no OmniMech can Swap their Engine, and this would be an OmniMech Only Tech,
its more of an Option to trade Tonnage for Speed, and something all OmniMechs could use,

I'm not talking about TT construction rules, I'm talking about MWO construction rules. And the proposal to include Superchargers, for Omnimechs, is an obvious attempt to bypass that.

If the time for engine swapping omnis is upon us, lets just do it. Why bypass a rule when you can just get rid of it?

I suppose, but you are going to need every DHS you can get to manage the heat from 8x MedLas and devoting a half-ton to a Supercharger means I need to strip way more armor to make up the difference.

Seven seconds, though. That's not enough to really outrun anything; it takes longer than that to shake a determined pursuer with the Locust, and if the pursuer is a Light you will not shake him at all except by kiting into friendlies.

While being slow is an issue for the Mist Lynx, it's not actually the biggest one because it has very good agility. The problem the Mist Lynx has is fragile weapon placement (fixed with armor quirk) and too much tonnage eaten up by useless things like CAP or two extra JJs it doesn't really need. The Raptor shares only the lack of speed; it otherwise has superior weapons to the Mist Lynx. If it is agile and blessed with some decent energy and missile quirks, it will be fine.

perhaps, but thats still +168m(24m*7sec) thats enough to get you closer to your Allies,
lets not for get the bonus to Accel/Decell, you make a mistake, you could pop it in reverse in a second,
its not much, but it is a slight buff that could get you out of trouble, in some instances, even small it can help,
