...very first map is Polar Highlands. So I go out and take the llllooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnng flank around and kill a couple of their LRM boats that engaged turret mode at the end of their formation. One of them starts b****ing about how lights are OP and should be nerfed, the other disconnects instantly upon death (I suspect alt f4)

One of the two potatoes actually locked on to me and a kdk 3 turned around and one shot my torso as the LRM pilot is b****ing up a storm

kodiak says "so op i one shot them"

10/10 would huginn again

Hehe Sounds like a very fun time. Those lrm-ers probability didn't have seismic or reacted fast enough to the damage indicator. were they far from team or just at the very back? Was your build straight srms or the srm and mg combo? Smurfy still lists the huggins quirks as cool down and range 20%,heat gen minus 15% and velocity 10%. I remember using it when it was still the srm 6x2 chain fired Gatling gun and the forums ablaze in rage over its op.

I don't know what to say about my Huginn

when I first bought it in Dec 2014 it was a face wrecker I could take down DW pretty fast (was pretty shocked)

around May 2015 I stopped using it

I started using it again but it seems way way down on the effectiveness scale
in 4V4 I don't even think I destroyed a component

the Mech still has over 200 kills (I wonder if Kill per drop would be a better indicator of Mech effectiveness)
anyway like almost every Mech the Huginn seems to be a shadow of its former greatness

Part of it is that you don't have a 57% faster cooldown on SRM4s like there used to be. Taps out at 37%.

Coupled with nerfing of its armor and structure quirks and it's not a popular choice-- oxide is just as glass cannon-y but at least you have 4 srm4s rather than just 2

I must be rubbish.

Huginn was my first Hero mech ever. I got into this game just from this one mech. The amount of mechs I bought, nothing has ever given me the fun this mech did. Unfortunately that's gone, I needed those beefed up quirks to fire a constant stream of SRM4's. This still took balls to face tank (I can't believe the stuff I pulled off) and skills to hit the enemy's face constantly so they cant see you. With the decent quirks, you could bully certain people no matter what mech they were in, unless they caught you with a splat.

Once in a while I jump back in but the dual SRM4 splat is crap. It turns into another hit and run mech but is actually less useful cause it's just two missile slots. Most mechs do it better. The MG's can't back up a splat and run attack (they worked really well before the nerf once you opened the armour up).

I don't think it'll ever get back to it's former glory but it's nice to see it on the field again.

I managed to get 1100 damage out of it (Most of it was on an isolated Direwolf that just wouldnt die).

Before anyone says it was OP etc etc, the damage it did was too much etc. Nope, it was earnt. Like a PPC summoner, it took ages to get that damage racked up. This raven was a true Scavenger, when it smelt blood, it could run in for the kill.

Such a great design.

People react less to missiles in their rear than lasers in their rear it seems.

Hit them with SRM's and they're like Duuurrrrrr.....
Hit them with lasers and they turn their head around like owls.

The damage indicator on lasers flashes longer because of burn duration and as you twist the indicator will move.

This is another factor in why laser vomit isn't stacking up well against PPFLD, by the way.. if you are getting pelted by someone with large lasers it is extremely easy to twist until you see the beam and follow the beam to the shooter before you pop them with PPFLD.. Posted Image

Thanks for reminding me of this.

To be fair though, the damn thing is as tall as an atlas now and the large laser barf build requires an ISXL. Yeah it's a good example of why TTK can be dramatically low sometimes but it doesn't do it for 0 drawback

guess it depends on what speed you want...or if you are going for 4 or 5 LPL. I honestly haven't kept up with whatever version Gman is recommending these days, but using it's stock 280, with 2 JJ, I can pack 4x LPL still and 36% cooling.

it's all a bunch of vanilla hokeypokey BS either way.

I've also never found height to particularly effect survivability, speaking as a long time ShadowHawk guy.
