You may have something there because I run the game that way and I have never seen this crash message. Windows 7, Intel I7 and nVidea 970 GTX.

This and DirectX 9 cleared up a lot of my crash issues.

But for anyone asking for OP's specs or recreating the problem, or it's an issue on his end... It's not. It's the game, 100%. Different PC's may have more issues than others but I have zero problems with all of my other games, or at the very least it seems like zero problems compared to MWO.

And yes all my **** is up to date, verified game cache etc... Game still takes a **** from time to time.

@Restos: Its looks like a Crytek error. I don't know why everyone says its some sort of display error caused by Windows. Wouldn't that be labeled as such in the crash log?

I know nothing about coding, but even I can tell something is going wrong there. I'd definitely try to contact support about it.

I have been sending crash log dumps for months. They do nothing. 50%+ of the company is working on MechWarrior 5. Nobody is working on MWO except the art team.

I have not have any crashes and that is basically what my omicron.log looks like.

Player who was crashing every 3 games or so, ended up being a possible infected file stdshader_dx7.dll found by his antivirus program which was located in his STEAM/ Half Life 2 folder.

Once he had that quarantined and removed, he reported back that he hasn't had any crashes since.

@Tarl: That info is one of the items in "what does this report contain" when sending a crash log. It must be relevant. There is nothing gained from sending routine or status quo info. Perhaps you did have a crash at some point and your info simply hasn't been overwritten by more recent crashes. My log is from tonight.

Check your timestamps.

Mwo crashed like 5 times for me since closed beta, through Win 7, 8 and 10. I don't recall seeing this error even once.

Seriously though, I would like for some word on this from PGI but it's obviously not something that happens to everyone. It does seem to be very system dependent. My first rig pretty much never crashed. Then my CPU died and I downgraded to a 9yr old CPU with the same OS and started crashing every 8ish games. I've since done a small upgrade and still crash, usually when alt+tabbing.

Since it's obvious I could probably help myself a lot by looking into it I probably should but I rejoin fast enough that it's usually not a big deal and I wouldn't know where to start.

Of course it is affected. I had plenty of crashes when I alt+tabbed while the match was loading, while using full screen. Only reason I used full screen was because full window took more resources. But now I know that using more resources is worth it, if it means no alt+tab related crashes. After I switched to full window, I never had such crash again.

Considering my hardware and my FPS in other games, more specifically Fallout 4 (Which is also poorly optimized); I have 86 mods loaded that range from better optimization to purely aesthetic/additional functionality and features while running max graphics at the capped 60fps (Minus Shadows and Godrays). In the case resource demands, I'm certain Full-Windowed would make loading my most-developed settlements that drop me to 25-30FPS in Fullscreen would outright crash from Full-Window bogging... So in some situations it might fix issues but in others it would probably cause them.

In MWO's case and my regular 100-150 FPS, Full-Window would definitely be an option had tab-crashing presented itself as a frequent issue... But for Fallout 4, for example, it would not. User discretion, then?

it crashes even without alt tabbing... it shouldn't crash at all.

TBF, I do not have Fallout 4, but I think user discretion is the right way to do it. I do have Left 4 Dead 2 with 50+ mods running, and alt tabbing crashes happen sometimes in that game with full screen. I just do not trust full screen anymore.

So sorry even the most experienced programmers from the most notable development companies can't completely resolve the compatibility issues created from millions of potential hardware combinations spread across a multi-billion+ member population of consumers, much less the thousands of people determined to use off-the-shelf, mismatched mechanical nightmares from the Wal-mart specials section... By all means, show'em how it's done.
