For me, I don't even want PPC poptarting nerfed for the Summoner in general UNLESS it uses these pods because they just give it so much strength.

Hence my idea for negative ERPPC quirks on these pods. If you don't use the pods or you just use lasers in the pods, you don't experience any of the drawbacks. You only feel the hurt if you put the Peepers in the ST's.

It feels kinda arbitrary, but it gets the job done of letting arm-mounted poptart Thors still get the quirks.

A "lore" explanation could be that the mounts don't have enough coolant or power linkages to fully accommodate the ERPPC. The weapons are basically "jury rigged" to fit into a place where they weren't built to go. That explanation probably works better on Battlemechs than Omnimechs, but whatever...

Well, you don't only get one extra 6 pack, but the better convergence still doesn't make up for all the marks against it.

Can't get anything by you huh?

I thought of that after I posted but didn't feel enough drive to go in and edit the post.

Why do players have this urge to constantly bring down "the best" of anything? And given PGI's rather blunt instruments ... <smh>

Just only allow ppc quirks if u have the ppcs fit into arms. That would help a bit. Not much i know but a bit.

I wonder if i got back a year will i find people complaining about the loyalty pods on the nova or executioner ? I did buy the NVA-D's omni pods when they became available and I'm using another of them on my NVA-BK (quad SRM6 and 2 MGs is a low heat high blast ball of fun).

You won't see any complaining about those two. They were hardly game changing.

Or just lower the PPC quirks a bit. Less velocity, make somebody have to sacrifice heat efficiency if they want the precision.

Anyone wants to trade his loyalty Summoner for my loyalty Cataphract?

Noone?

Maybe if I add a pack of unopened cerials to my Cataphract?

Still noone?

A heavy mech stuck in a world of medium mech loadouts needs to be nerfed ?
Nova does it better.

LOL. So wrong it hurts. Look at the numbers first. Heat sinks, quirks, hardpoint location (how much of mech needs to be exposed), heat efficiency, etc. The Summoner is far superior.

This would probably be the best plan of action.

Just give those pods negative quirks for PPC velocity. That way arm mounted Summoners Poptarts can still roll those sweet, sweet velocity boosts (because it actually needs them). But the negative velocity quirks on the loyalty pods makes it so that the sweet, sweet arm quirk boost is negated by the torso quirk.

EDIT: After reading the rest of the thread, I apparently stole your idea without knowing, FupDup. Posted Image

I do worry that it may need the heat gen quirk negated as well, that's just how good I think it is right now.

Goddam you guys . . . "Nerf! Nerf! Nerf!"

Especially a chassis as supremely crappy as the Summoner.

Obviously the Summoner isn't crappy anymore, for anyone who has their head NOT buried in the sand.

To clear up some misconceptions because apparently people suck at reading.
  • I don't approve of nerfing the mech as a whole, just the energy side torso loyalty pods.
  • The Summoner isn't crappy, even before this people knew about the 2 ERPPC in the arm Summoner and the brawling Summoner both of which are particularly strong.

I read/hear that often and have to ask.... WHAT SIX MACHINEGUN SPIDER !? Is this some mythical reward exclusive spider that only a few even own ? The 5k mounts a grand total of FOUR machineguns.

The SDR-5K was originally slated to come with six ballistic hardpoints. It was cut down to four before it launched, with PGI famously going on record as saying (paraphrasing, I wasn't there for the original hullaballoo) "a six-MG Spider would be extremely unbalanced. It would be able to kill an Atlas through the back in three seconds." Mind, this was during one of the low points in the machine gun's history, not any of its very infrequent high points.

It's a similar story to the 'on an Island' comment; Piranha said something silly, the community is holding it against them for the Rest Of Time. The 6MG Spider is one of those things that haunt the forums, like quadrupeds or the Sad Bat Muck Too, or combat-viable UrbanMechs.

I member the quote:

Bryan Ekman, ATD #35 said:

CCQ 3: Why is Machine Gun damage so low?
A: Partly due to the nature of how MGs work in the TT rules, partially due to how we chose to make it useful. When equipping a MG, keep in mind that it is not meant to burn through armor but is very useful for tearing up internals (crits). Bumping MG damage will turn it into a laser that can be kept on with no heat penalty until it runs out of ammo. Now imagine the devastating effect that a 6 MG spider could do to the back of an Atlas! We are still investigating balance of the MG but don’t expect any significant increase in damage.

Whatever happened to Bryan Ekman anyway? Is he not with PGI anymore?

He's still there, I heard he was at MechCon. He's probably been working on MW5.

Yup, the nipple sniper is too good. However, when the 8 pod set sets in, it may be enough to balance him.

Else, I think only Austin Powers may help us
