Why does PGI not let us buy more than one copy of a mech pack, reinforcement add-on, or hero add-on for a given account? Have they explained this somewhere? Letting people buy multiple copies seems like free money for them, so there must be a reason for this.

One reason is to limit the amount of accidental purchases people could make, accidentally rebuying a mech pack instead of upgrading it, or thinking they didn't own it and suddenly having 2 of it.

Because they have c bill bundles that cost MC that are of an awful value. $15 through MC to get them is roughly 5 million c bills.

If people were to instead spend that $15 on a kodiak reinforcements pack they would get two mechs with cXL400s, lots of value in weapons and equipment, and the mechs itself-- easily worth closer to 25 million.

Capiche?

Most people probably don't want multiple copies of a mech. Some people have posted how to get rid of (C) mechs etc that they already have as a event prize or bought already. I don't think any one has ever bought two or three copies of a hero mech just because they don't want to rebuild a load out. I imagine doing so would be expensive esp for some mechs like the boar's head at about 90-95$ in total. I can see claners crying that they can't have more than one set of hero and reinforcement pods to make that dream build of a mech though.

Good thing the skill tree system is going to bottleneck heroes, unless you'd like to get multiple copies to run differently skilled heroes. Posted Image

Some of us most certainly have. Some of us are not that bright.

You're the first one I know of that has done so.

I was trying to not only have fun with builds, but to look for ways to be supportive of PGI (I used to be one of those who would argue against the "wallet closed until..." crowd. I truly believed that we should spend real money to support the game). Thank god Russ and CW cured me of that.

Unfortunately, this makes a lot of sense. Has PGI ever slipped up and said anything direct about this? (Or, even better, would anyone from PGI like to jump in here and dispel this myth?)

Yeah. Three IV-4s purchased when IS drop decks were 240 tons (ran a 4G for the 4th). Two Fire Brands.
Two Illyas (had to have a 3LBX build and a 3UAC5 and 3ML). Was on the verge of buying a third (for the 3AC10 build), then my view point of continuing to support the game with real money was changed.
At about the same time of that revelation I was considering buying another Jester, but then they were hit by the dart board, so I guess: Thanks Dart Board, you saved me some $.

But for my $ boycott (again: "thanks Russ"), and now the unknown of the squriks tree changes, I would probably buy a second Sparky and maybe even another BH2.
