I just heard, they are going to start building the F-35 once again. That is good news. It has been too long since they worked on that wonderful plane.

Uhm Kali are you beeing ironic ?

-- Too expensive
-- Undergunned/hillariously low payload
-- pittyfull maneuverability
-- stealth systems where the most expensive part on that plane and deliver marginaly less radar cross section than the supersonic maneuverable Eurofighter Typhoon
-- problems with lifesupport systems and electronics (wich where underdeveloped and/or outdated from first day of production)
-- touchscreen system in cockpit can't be operated savely during flight maneuvers due to too high sensibility
-- retrofitted voicecontroll system wich...oh well....

I feel like its approach to air combat is going to lead to a repeat of the early F4 program. "It's okay, the missiles will kill them long before they can shoot back." Everyone knows how that went. Granted the technology has made massive leaps and bounds since then, but still, the technology is NEVER as reliable as we want it to be.

And that thing is a cow compared to good ol' F-16, F-18, and the tough, crude monsters the Russians fly.

I can still remember way back in the early 1980's
how much flack the M1 Abrams tank had

there was even a 60 minute segment on how bad the tank would be
lucky for us the M1 tank program proceeded

enemies of the US would hate for the US to get any new fighter and they will do anything to kill programs

most of the stuff you hear is propaganda designed to kill the F35 program

The F-35 was cancelled, amid a host of other projects to make room for Obamacare. The F-35 concept needs a redo, that I will agree. Still it is jobs.

No Davegt27. If you will pardon me, I love planes. Both civilian sport, and military combat craft.Posted Image

Somebody said F-35?
I'm not a big fan, especially the B model. (HA HA it has a lift fan, get it?) maybe because I've been salty about it way before being salty was a phrase. I work for another aerospace company.
Regardless, I do have a cool video I took of it, since my job takes me places that are very cool, and I still love to watch the dang thing fly.

yeah its a strange argument to get into

war machines or homeless people

its obvious the person that wrote that article is not from the US
why because it cost thousands and thousands of dollars in taxes each year to own a house

we spend way to much money on black projects and war machines
we also keep getting attacked and because it takes so long to develop these machines
its like a catch 22

Bizarre claim. Where did that come from?
Obamacare/ACA was funded mostly by a few percent in taxes on people with >$200k in income.

F35 spending went way up, coincidentally just when the ACA was passed, because they started actually building the factories to build the planes. And about 200 have already been built, and I think two squadrons are already in operation.

If anything it has seemed a bit more shaky since the presidential election, as Trump tweeted about the programs cost a few times. Easiest way to cut cost is to cut the number of planes.

The way I see this, is that the F35 is misguided to begin with.

It's kind of like taking a Catapault/Mad Dog and slapping on SRMs with ERLL.

When you attempt to make the vehicle capable of every role, you just get one that's ****** at everything. The reason the US has the older planes is in no small part because jets like the A-10 and the F-16 are still better in their respective roles than newer equipment.....in no small part because the military contracting is process is corrupt and bloated beyond almost all comprehension.
