Been a long while since I have played. Before CW.

Must you have 4 mechs, can you play with three for example?
Must you have 265 tons, can you run at 255 etc?

there are 2 modes in CW, one mode is scouting, you must have 1 Mech weighing less than 60 tons for IS or less than 55 tons for Clan

for the main mode you must have 4 Mechs
there are both minimum and maximum tonnage, I believe for both the minimum is 160, for IS I think the max is 260, for Clans I think it is 240, you can take any combination of Mechs wo make a total tonage anywhere between those 2 limits,

No, you cannot drop with only 3 mechs. If you only own three, you can take a trial mech, but that is generally not advisable for the sake of enjoyment and due to the greater chance of a loss.
