Alpine Domination

So had a game on alpine peaks domination, the domination circle was right next to the enemy spawn, has anyone else had this happen?

Its always in the same place... It isn't really an issue.

Domination overall, is though.

So if the domination circle is is right at one teams spawn it's all good?

I'd rather see this fixed, the circle should be the same distance from each spawn.

By the time they get out the gates etc, it's rarely below 1min, so only 30 sec.

Bigger issues than that with the modes/maps etc.

It's pretty one-sided. Right next to one side and it's the side that has cover. The other team has to literally go walk out into the open to get in the circle.

I've never seen the side on the crap approach win unless it was a coordinated team v pugs who just rolled them with a hard push.

You need to take a closer look. This is a huge issue. The circle has moved behind the mountain onto the other frozen lake. The blue team in the photo spawns in the 5 line and the red team spawns in the 12 line. I was in that match and my kodiak got into the circle before enemy cicadas that b-lined right for it got in.

Needs to either be moved back or the spawns should be readjusted. This game ended in roughly 5 minutes for the record.

Domination is cancer on Alpine Peaks.

Both in Quick Play and in Faction Play.

They moved it so the western spawn didn't auto win.

Now the eastern spawn auto wins.

Afaik there is hardly any place were Domination would make any sense on Alpine.

Thats why it is really important to hardlock the mode in the map.
So alpine might be ok for escort (conquest? with cap locations in those bases on the maps). assault - with LR turrets in one main base and short range turrets in the other.

Time to accept alpine is the worst map in the game currently.

Almost always bad, boring games.

played a game on it last night were the clans were able to make to are side of the circle with assault and heavy then killed half are team before they could even get 500 m to the circle needless to say clans won in 3 min

There are some places that would work well, but would require moving the spawns, which I'm sure is way more work than PGI is willing to put in.

Take, for example, the north-eastern G10/G11 base, if you put the objective in the middle of that and let one team spawn in L10-L11-L12 and the other in D6-E6-F6, you could have an interesting game. Both teams have covered approaches to the objective and are able to get onto high ground locations over it, while the buildings around it can make for interesting brawling spots. Alternatively, you can put the objective in the south-western J5 area and have the teams spawn in F6 and L10 respectively. One team has the high ground, the other has lots of cover.

The biggest mistake PGI is making with all the domination maps is that they are making it a rule to put the objective in the middle of the team spawns, instead of off to the side. This, IMO, arbitrarily restricts the game mode to a rush and hold the objective mode, rather than any kind of tactical approach such as finding the best firing positions.

Yes we played that last weekend and wow it was not fun for the IS charging on open ground towards clan mechs who were right next to the domination circle. I couldn't belive how f'd up that is. I replied on a post in the Map Feedback thread there as well. Please fix this crap.

This is their 3rd attempt at fixing this mode on this map, PGI YOU STILL HAVENT GOT IT BALANCED.

love alpime more than polar but this 1 mode on this map is still the worst map/mode combo in game.

Try centering it on top of the k9/l8 mountain pgi and maybe make assaults able to climb it from both sides not just 1

Yeah dropped on this mode earlier today and had to run a gauntlet of ER large lasers to even get close to the circle. From there it was all enemy mechs looking down on us poor potatoes from superior position where we couldn't even aim high enough to hit them. Whichever side starts close to the circle, be it IS or Clan has a serious advantage.

One way we found to counter is to get some snipers up on the I-10 hill to disrupt the enemy firing line while most of the team tries to secure the circle...even that though was a tenuous and fragile strategy.
