Did not want to hijack a discussion so started this one.
PEOPLE, fight "recently" imposed internet data usage caps by internet providers. Go file a complaint @ consumer protection web site. Don't let them get their foot in the door!
Obviously media companies are losing revenue from the decrease in landline phone use and the decline of cable. Home broadband data caps (not the old ones that were always there, the new ones - on the average user) are a rip-off.
These duopolies don't want to innovate, so they are trying to milk the cow. Make them innovate.

unfortunately the incoming regulatory folks (in the U.S.) are unlikely to support any regulation of service providers

My ISP had put a cap on 200 gigs of data per month. Used to be enough but then wife was seduced by Netflix.

I watch movies online and download and upload movies with youtube but I have a 1k GB data cap. I reach about 400-600 gb a month... Sucks we have it but they just want to make money
