I'm sorry but I don't think we can consider your advice top notch for just playing a light in a day.
Where were you the past couple of months? lots of lights got obsoleted or just plain ignored nowadays.
Also sorry, not sorry for bringing up tiers but this have to be said, you're a member since 2013 and you're still T3? You don't seem to play often do you since potatoes can go to T1 if they just play all the time. So yeah I don't think we can consider your 1 day experience a representative of the whole light gameplay.
Truth is, lights need help. Lights are becoming unused, they're only peaking 17% usage, and when they are used, a large portion of them die right away when scouting because they're not as small and nimble as they used to be.

I think he's serious since he posted an actual video.

Also yeah we need to nerf that 6 MG spider, that's freaking OP, I had 50 back armor in my KDK-3 and it also chewed it right off.

oh great more nerf herding advise just what the world needs. It's skilled light pilots not the mech that makes it look op kick @$$,If you fart hard at a locust and you'll crit something if not ct it. Get real most good light jockeys took the time to learn how to pilot other mech classes and weapons, took the time to lean all the maps and how use them efectively. Make one mistake in a light boom your dead, speed is your armor small size helps. Light mechs are not what makes them seem op it's the time that a skilled pilot took to learn and master more then just his/hers mech. Only way you can nerf a good light pilots skills is to be a better pilot your self

I started playing this game 2 years ago. One of my first acts...to learn the game and to support PGI...was the purchase of just about ALL of the light IS mechs. I spent the next year trying to have fun, trying to understand what purpose 90% of the things even had in this game (I still don't know) and then after PSR tiers were introduced, trying to work my way out of underhive hell while watching all of my stats get further driven into the ground.

So OP, no. I learned the hard way that light mechs need all the help they can get. Yes some can be decent, and even lethal, but the vast majority are so far away from being good that they are not even in the same fu..ing zip code as most of the other mechs in this game.

how can lights be OP when skillcrow exists.

skillcrow was so OP at killing lights, that pgi lowered scout tonnage just so skillcrow couldn't be used.

i have one and in quickplay it melts any light dumb enough to get close to me.

I think it would be funny if they nerf lights enough that all the good light pilots get frustrated enough to switch to heavies and then completely break the tenuous game balance. Oh the tears if the decent light pilots took better mechs out to play...

You know, there's a reason why most of the time the light queue is sitting around 4-5%.

Lights have a really, really high skill floor to even be viable these days. You literally cannot make a single mistake in a light and not be either crippled or killed, since you have paper for armour and your targets almost all have agility quirks that let them keep targeting you despite already having very high armour and structure. Your weapons, even if they DO have high alpha, are very, very short ranged, and with the presence of Seismic Sensor, closing the gap becomes even harder.

So tell me, then. Why does a light pilot that needs to know every single map like the back of his hand deserve to have his already paper mech nerfed?
Why does a light mech need to have its cooling quirks removed, when it's stuck with a sub-250 engine with PoorDubs that give significantly less cooling than TrueDubs?
Why does a light mech need to have its offensive quirks removed, when it has fewer hardpoints than most other mechs?
Why does a light mech pilot need to have his agility quirks removed, just because a heavy pilot doesn't have to plan for insertion -> attack -> extraction, every time that they make an attack run?

You heavy pilots and your sense of entitlement...it's disgusting. We light pilots that still stick around die more often than a player in Dark Souls to even get to where we are, and you think that just because we know where to hit where it hurts, our mechs are OP? It's a necessity to do that when we do not have the luxury of armour to tank, nor the weapons to hit with big alphas from half a klick away.

In short, git gud. And no, really. Git gud. Or we'll force you to git gud the hard way, the same way that your big alphas forced us to git gud. You die. Over...and over...again. Until you get the point and start thinking a few steps ahead before executing a plan.

How to make an attack run as a heavy or assault:
1. Press W.
2. As you reach the top of the hill you were humping, press S.
3. Fire off a long range, high damage alpha from your high mounts (you DID use meta mechs with high mounts, right?).
4. Reverse down the hill. Unless you are one of them Clan UAC dakka boats; in that case, mash the fire button repeatedly as long as you are not getting too much return fire and your guns are not jammed.

Rinse and repeat until out of ammo or overheat. What do you mean heavy and assaults don't need to plan as much as the OP lights.

yes this is sarcasm

Before i mostly played on heavies or assaults, rarely meds, but almost never light.

Today i took light mech to make for myself new experience from this game. And i found that survivability of light mech on battlefield is many times higher than heavy or assault mech for example(light mech can get to any location on map in seconds, light mech can survive alpha from heavy or assault mech). And light mech can deliver alpha almost as high as heavy mech. And more of that - most light mechs has quirks for cooldown and/or heat generations, so their DPS is also almost same as heavy mech.

Im not going to make any math of this, this is just my feels after using light mech. I almost feel like im cheating when playing in light mech.

For example this video.

this guy flanked enemy in seconds, cause he has so much speed, he can deliver alpha as heavy mech, if enemy will spot him - he can survive alpha from enemy heavy mech and run away or get behind him and stay out of his reach forever.

Light mechs need their Alpha reduced.

I dont think this video is accurate. Which tier was this match? 4 & 5? Saw lots of green mech ~ trial mech? I am only concern about my hitreg on the lights. I gave up on those with teleporting ability, one second they are there, the other second they disappear and reappear at another corner.
