So, with 3060 tech (kinda) right around the corner, is anyone else interested in seeing the Avatar as one of the new mechs in the big summer mech pack? It's easily one of my favorite IS heavies, and it's one of the first, if not the first, IS heavy omnimech. The thing is basically a bigger, slower Mad Dog with more weapons and (depending on how they remodel it) better hitboxes. The basic variant would have at least 4 energy hardpoints (as long as they don't lock the two Medium Lasers, which they probably won't seeing as they unlocked the Adder's flamer.), 3 ballistic hardpoints, and two missile hardpoints. It comes with JJ and ECM variants, and besides the lowish top speed for a post-clans heavy, it has enough weapons to make up for it. The only major downside that I could see for the mech is that it would have a locked IS XL, but again, depending on the hitboxes and the reworking by Alex, it could end up with some decent shield arms.

And the Raptor can get released after the Sunder.

So... Mech Packs start up again in what, April? If they start with Clan, that means the Avatar is allowed to come out in...

September.

Why not all 3? They said they were going back to the good old days of the 4 mechs per pack that stopped with the Origins IIC pack. ALL OF THE IS OMNIS! ALL OF THEM!

I would be first in line to buy an IS Omni package as long as the Raptor is included as the Light.

Light: Raptor
Medium: Firestarter. The 45 ton Omni one. Or the Strider, but that's just an omni version of a Cicada with a fixed STD 240. Which is a terrible idea at only 40 tons.
Heavy: Avatar
Assault Sunder

My wallet is ready, but my bank account isn't.

If they give us the F-config with 7 jump jets and 5 energy hardpoints... I would actually buy that mech. Probably.

Firestarter is too much like the PXH, only worse because it can't even run as fast. For the Medium, I'd much rather have a BJ-O, which can at least mount some incredibly brutal firepower in trade for its low speed and it has fantastic mounts. And since we're getting future-tech...well...party!

If we really need a medium Omnimech, and people refuse to let me have a Strider, can we at least go for the only kind of, sort of original IS medium omnimech (That I'm aware of), the Men Shen? It's Capellan, so I hate it, but at least it's only kind of, sort related to the Raven, instead of the rest of the lineup which is straight up chassis copy-pastes.

I dunno...if it's the only way to get the Raptor, I guess, but I only like pretty 'Mechs or 'Mechs so ugly they are pretty. That one is just moderately ugly.

Fixed MASC and BAP? At 55 tons, I worry that it'd just be another DOA like the PHX, especially since it'd be competing in an area that already has three solid IS chassis. As a fan of the Cicada I'm all for the Strider, but I just worry that with a fixed STD engine it's going to be even weaker than the Cicada. The problem is that there really aren't that many IS Omnis in the medium range without dipping into the Jihad era, and even then they're WoB mechs. And the Jihad is a whole new can of worms that I don't think PGI is ready to try and handle.

Yah, it has limited pod space (17 tons of pod space, 25 crits), but it's fairly quick, and as far as locked equipment goes, MASC and BAP aren't bad pieces of equipment. And it's got nice pods, and ECM.

Energy
LA - 3
RA - 2
RT - 1
LT - 2
Head - 1

Missile
RT - 1
RA - 1
LA - 1

Ballistic
RT - 1
RA - 1
LA - 1

Other
RT - ECM

So, without hard point bloat, it can do...

9 Lasers, or 8 Lasers and 1 ECM

Dual AC/2 with ECM and 3 back-up lasers

SRM18 or SRM12A with 3 lasers (And potentially ECM)

It's not great, I'll give you, but I think it would do ok. Wont break into competitive play, but how many mechs do?

It could end up being a 55 ton Crab, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
