Hello

well we all know about the new tech coming in and we got enough topics discussing about them.

My question is simply relating to the maps? (could not find any info about upcoming maps in the roadmap, which talks all the way till summers)

So new weapons bring in new stuff and issues (balancing mainly) and that brings me to the question of maps as well.

How will this new weapons era and tech be handled with the current maps? are the current maps made big enough to cater out the new toys? or is there any info about pgi making new maps in order to compensate this new tech and the stuff it will bring?

Note: I also think all current IS and Clan weapons will be obsolete and those carrying the new tech will have the advantage (meta shift) :D

Light Gauss will be the sniper version of Gauss Rifle. As for how good it will be, who knows. At this point we have no idea on the actual stats of the weapon themselves. IS LBX20 will suck donkey butt unless PGI buffs it heavily.

ya but will the maps be big enough for these new weapons? or are we going to see pretty much same stuff being done by the new weapons due to maps not being big enough.. (fafnir sniping with those gauss rifles wont be much of a sniping except on few maps)

GR only recently had its 3x range advantage removed.

What do you mean are the maps big enough?

Heavy gauss (600m) has less range than the standard gauss (660m), and the light gauss (750m) doesn't even reach as far as the ERPPC (810m).

So what do you have to worry about?

UAC/2 (750m)
RAC/2 (750m)

Nope. Nothing really extends the range further than what we already have.

the amount of damage output. we have maps which still favour in with close range engagements, new weapons have a much higher output in terms of damage and that will cause problems imo

CUAC2 = 810 meters.

CAC2 = 900 meters. Bloody Clan tech.

Clan 'mechs wielding IS weapons implies that IS 'mechs could wield Clan ones.

In such a world, I doubt the KDK-3 would be the scariest thing around...

As much as I love CDS tech, I really don't want the Clans to have RACs. The Inner Sphere deserves them.

Heavy gauss might not even be with the new tech. it may be 3061, but it didn't get mass produced until 3081. but we'll see.

Long Tom Cannon please.

It'll add a ballistic equivalent for the LRM.

I hope they don't put in the Arrow. That was a nasty POS.

Heavy gauss would be nice but people have already started the omgzeoifeiepgj snipers are too OP. I'd prefer the light gauss first anyways, heavy-lights and meds need this for added diversity.

Someone mentioned heavy lasers? I think the games favoured too much for lasers already but having said that everyones bored at staring at the same options. Someone mentioned the Bombast laser, this adds a gauss effect to the laser which I like the sound of.

I hope we get some insight into this soon.

I'm very interested to see how MRMs are handled. Depending on f8re rate you could blanket an area. A team full of MRM and SRM me he would potentially be amazing. Maybe a couple LRM boats as well.
