I've decided that I really enjoy ballistic mechs. I'd like to find a mech that works well as a ballistic brawler with a little range to help me close.

What mechs/builds would you guys recommend for that?

I appreciate any ideas you can give me.

Urbanmechs, Hunchbacks, Centurions, Shadowhawks and Enforcers - but mostly Urbanmechs :)

Just get a HBK-4G and go distribute some AC20 shells!

I know this is the medium mech section, but Urbanmechs really play more like a traditional medium than a speedy light.

I can only recommend clan mechs as I almost exclusively play clan.
Mechs that are good with ballistic on the clan side are the night gyrs, but they are rather slow.
Dire wolf especially the Ultra Violet if you decide to get the hero mech is very2 good at boating uac.
Kodiak-3 hands down is the best chassis to boat the uacs.
Timberwolf are dangerous mounting dual uac10 as well.

For the medium, the huntsman and hunchback iic are good at ballistics as well.

For lights... the artic cheetah? XD

I personally am a huge fan of IS dual uac 5s. Or standard Ac5s since they've nerfed the uacs a bit.

My favourites include the Hunchback, Shadowhawk, Cataphract, Battlemaster and Banshee, for certain variants of each chassis. Now, there are some other great mechs such as the Jager mech and the mauler that I'll definately focus down if'n I'm facing em, but still haven't gotten the hang of like I have those mentioned. (And there are some other greats like the centurion, etc.. Heck, even my favourite cicada runs a uac5.)

Clan mechs can run em too, but I'm a bigger fan of the IS ballistics.
