One reason to have separate Clan and IS accounts is so that you can see how your stats vary.

Two Account Pros:

• Separates the tech completely
  
• Can be both a clan and IS loyalist
  
• Separate stats
  
• Simple to understand

Two Account Cons:

• Premium time is a pain and easy to waste
  
• Never enough c-bills

I've got three accounts (this is my oldest) and don't regret it. One account is 70%IS and early wave 1 clan. Second is 90%clan with a couple is IS because free mechs. Third is me derp account for tier 4 running lore-like builds. That way I can derp around and not harm my tier 1/2 unit buddies in a drop by bringing a mech that's not optimal.

Another bonus, the younger accounts are much more responsive to load. My main has so much crap in the inventory and so many mechs it takes forever to load mechlab between drops. The alts are relatively light by comparison.

Sell some excess weapons/junpjets/heatsinks etc will help load time

If you play a lot or spend a lot of money, then yes. If you're a filthy casual and you don't have enough C-bills to pay for your Coolshots, then no.

I have 2 accounts and I'm very happy I made that decision, for many reasons. I get to play both sides of FP. I get twice the rewards from challenges (if I have the time), which means I can spend bonus MC on both IS and Clan decals, for example. I don't have an incompatible mix of IS and Clan equipment in my inventory. Modules used to be another argument, but that's a thing of the past soon enough.
