The lore with inaccuracy on table top game with gunnery penalty for PPC is to emulate the actual difficulty of hitting a close moving target with this type of weapon. Well in PC Game you don't need to emulate this, it is naturally harder to hit anything close to you that is moving no code needed. The PPC should be doing full damage on targets within 90 meters just like the ER and other weapons of lore with minimum range penalties. This would make the PPC useful, as it is, your better off with Large Pulse Lasers even if your mech is quirked or run the risk of being underequipped to brawl.

- PPC really powerful weapon with single point hit damage. Short range of it with minimum distance can help brawlers take that mech down quickly. And this is good. It's part of strategy. Go far on bigger distance or close enough to take no damage. On the lore it described as "Particle Projection Cannon have not enough particle speed to do damage instead of ERPPC which is hotter and have bigger speed on start". That all. So - you must place not only cold PPC but some backup weapons.

This game will never get balanced so long as people like you pretend to be IS but play clanner profiles and down play any comments that are geared to balance the game.

- Yeah I'm merc from the first day of the game and play both mech - IS and Clan as well nearly in proportion 60% to 40% (60% IS, because that mech looks more military and have great impact builds). And my first mech was and still favorite - Catapult which was nerfed so many times that I can't remember all.

But I can name bunch of builds with PPC (which less hot than ERPPC) really effective (Starting from Awesome and Banshee). And if they have no minimum range - they really hard to kill. Imagine light (28t) pretty cold (nearly no overheat after 7-9 shot) 40 damage impact in close\medium range. You really want see whole team armed with only PPC (like it was with LPL)? And after whine get same heat as ERPPC and make one of them useless because bigger range better than shorter?

Or you agree to eliminate minimum range but make PPC shorter, from 1000m to 700, like pulse laser?
One way to get rid of minimum range of PPC and in same time make PPC balance for both side useful - described and based on research on PTS.

That mechanic:
- Core (main damage) + splash (secondary damage as Clan have)
And get something like that (damage and splash may vary, like less core damage - more splash):
PPC - Core damage - 5 + splash damage 2+2 to both side of impact point. (-1 heat)
ER PPC - Core damage - 7 + splash damage 1.5+1.5 to both side of impact point. (-1.2 heat)
C-ER PPC - Core damage - 7 + splash damage 2+2 to both side of impact point. (-0.6 heat)

That make PPC shots less lethal if all they hit same point as alpha, but burn enough armor to weak target or kill component near. That prevent IS mech from longrange massive hit in one point and in same time make overall Clan PPC damage less (especially from build packed with 4-5 PPC). That also allow use PPC on IS mech in close combat without minimum range but with shorter medium range (let's say - 850m) but not get cold one shot OP weapon to kill single component (like hand, torso or leg) in close combat.
Also that put PPC aside from pinpoint weapon like Gauss. Make it armor-burning gun and give players chance take hit on arm (so get less damage from 1 part of splash) or take to side torso (and get damaged also center and hand)

So, Im still Clanner or I just want game to be more fun and make battle a bit longer for each side without nerfing everything just because someone think that "something" too OP?
I tested PPC on PTS and make no minimum range - not a good idea if not change mechanic to splash as well.
Or... add to PPC some support shortrange weapon to get rid from running too close enemy mech. Like all do.
