With the big sale going on and my general lack of care for the meta anymore i bought a kit fox and timberwolf. I ran them roughly stock with a little change or two and to my surprise its the most fun i've had in the game. Managing LRMs , lasers , and machine guns of all things at the same time is awesome and challenging.

It feels like im playing the old mechwarrior games again.

I guess what drawed me to the mechwarrior games in general was the use of several different weapon types at the same time , having to juggle heat and purpose with what weapon you choose to fire. With almost every other shooter you're limited to one or two weapons , and almost always you could only use one at a time.

Sure , i could do better if i made an optimized build. Laser vomit , guass vomit , PPFL , or SRM brawler , but i've already done all that , and to me those builds seem really one dimensional and frankly boring.

My 2 cents.

I'm a huge lore build person myself. Finally broke my rule of "only lore builds" a couple of days ago to run a 6x AC/2 Night Gyr, but everything else in my stable is the proper lore setup. Only reason I'm still playing this game any more. If you want tips on which ones are good on the Clan side, just hit me up and I'll point you towards my favorites.

I got my eye on a direwolf as my next purchase , but i don't know if i will be able to grind out the c bills to get one before the sale is done.

If i run it stock , which direwolf would you suggest?

Ooof. Lore loadouts for the Dire Wolves are painful. As a masochist, the Dire Wolf Prime is fun, but that's because managing the weapon groups and your heat is akin to operating a nuclear submarine with just your feet. It's the best out of the lot though, honestly. Otherwise I'd go for the A variant, 3 LPLas and a goose rifle.

Personally, if I were to try and do a Dire Wolf lore loadout, I'd wait to see if the Dire Wolf H variant comes out with the new tech that's on the horizon. Dual goose rifles and heavy large lasers. Otherwise you're going to need to be really good to pull it off.

Well duh, almost all the Clan mechs have enough firepower stock and decent mid range punch.
