With as reduced in power as trial mechs are they really should not be an option for Group play.

Their okay for solo pug play until you enter a game and see entire team using them... ugh. But thats another world.

With as competitive as groups can be and are. It really is a whole new level of game well above solo pug life. Trail mechs are just not up to being competitive enough and are a hindrance to the team.

I like the idea of trial mech to be able to try something new and they are scaled back in ability as a freebie should be but once you get past the starting PUG Life they are just not up to it.

EDIT 1/31/17: Seems removing them as option hated, guess I forget the days starting out a newb and how limited my mech options were. Though sticking to IS I still don't think was that bad and built up quite a few mechs not all that fast, but I digresss. Anyway maybe better option as I note in my most recent comment below is improve the prefomance of trial mechs a bit more. Trial mechs really are gimped in performance a little better version would not hurt that much more.

(MS) runs 12 man Crab-fest when we get the numbers. And we require trial Crab to be available for that, since some members of the unit do not have that 50 ton mech. So trials should stay, IMO.

umm... so you don't want any new players in group play?
I do not think you will get PGI to agree with you.

It seems like 90% of the people who used to enjoy playing with their filthy casual friends or use group queue as a social way of introducing new players to the game have already left. So yeah, why not ban trial mechs and get rid of the last 10%.

I have no room for casuals in my Mechwarrior Online.

The final solution is to exterminate those pesky Tier 4 players who ruin my Tier 1 experience.

Since group play is broken anyway, as it puts you and your brand new friend, who you are showing the game to, into the loin's den so you can be mauled, is this really an issue?

The only people that bother to play in the group que know what they are doing or leave quickly.

This setup killed playing the game with my kid, as my 8 year old can't compete in group , he can in solo play, so neither of us play the game much anymore, and so we play other games were we can play together without a penalty.

For what it's worth, he won't get me to agree with him either.

I have to quote you here for great truth, and I will requote you over and over Everytime someone agrees with the OP.

Some "seasoned" players forget about how influx of new players is required for the game to survive, and new players like to drop with friends.

So new players cant get a mech??? As for the Crab walk group well that's your groups personal bias enjoy play game you want. Though god with as heat limited as trial mechs are... ugh.

With training and starting out bonuses its dam easy to get a mech,

Is going into a GROUP match with a new player throwing them to the lions, YUP! Especially against those 12 man groups, such fun getting rolled in seconds. But then of course letting the new player go into it with trial mechs that are even more limited then any cheap mech they could quickly get their hands on, as a new player how does that help anything more?

Trial mechs are a nice option for sure, try something new, but good god do you really want them in a group especially on a new player trying to learn the game?

If not remove them PGI should decrease their limits a little more their free they shouldn't be perfect but for trial they barely pass in Solo and almost all are way under geared for Grouping.

If they'd just properly separate T4 and T1, and T3 and T1 for that matter and kept tiers only with their own and *maybe* with the one right next to them then we wouldn't be having this problem in the first place and may have kept the population to support it. But muh buckets.

Edit:

Also keep trial mechs available, old players also just use them as a throw in when they feel like it or on alt accounts or with group members who don't play much or whatever. Its just an extra option and its the players driving that matter more.

Yes ideally Teirs should be better seperated but honestly the population of this game is pretty small inorder to keep games going think PGI is stuck mixing and matching they can only work with what they got. And forcing players to wait long periods of time to get into a game as the server doesn't ahve to right tiers available will kill them even more.

But only if you stop using free auto-translate sites to post on the forums, and invest in Rosetta Stone (They have an English program, right?).

In case some people missed it...

You trolling is being rude and dickish, I am just stating a simple fact trial mechs are very gimped and in group play which is much more competitive they are honestly more a hinderance to the team then not. Regardless of new player or veteran.

Sorry if my typing cast of emotions that you seem to be reading into it. It was simply a comment/suggestion based on a weakness I see in the game.

You are being rude and childish by saying new players should not be allowed to drop with a friend to guide them, and that Group Play is reserved for the elites.

Trial mech are some kind of a non issue.
(Besides, on a big chunk of occasions, they are even better than most builds the average player brings. Posted Image )

Every time you que up and dont have a full 12 man, its a lottery.

Do your best and have as much fun as possible.

(Still can feel your pain somewhat ... had a game with a 2 man that brought 2 of the lightest mechs possible. Best use of tonnage i ve ever encountered Posted Image )

No, you were telling people how to play the game because you don't like it. Hilarious for two reasons.

The first is that the Trial mechs are player built, voted in based on what the community thought was best at the time. Most of them are actually quite good - Even the dated ones that quirks/patches have left behind are fairly well balanced, at least.

The second is that I can read the leaderboard. And while I wont be so classless as to lay it all out for everyone, I will say that I find the notion that Trial mechs are a hindrance, but you aren't, is laughable. Perhaps you should use a few trial mechs - May learn something.

The second one is an absurdly low blow, of course. But if you're going to criticize the performance of other players, you should make sure you yourself can hop over the bar you're setting.

Well, now I've pointed out a weakness I see in your game. We're even now.

Sorry if that is what you got out of my request. I never once call out player level skill or newness to the game actually. Honestly did not think of new players wanting to join friends. Personally I never even thought to join my friends up for grouping until I some feel for the game but thats me. Anyway

My post is about trial mechs regardless of player in a group setting they are really really gimped. As for new players wanting to join in grouping then maybe better idea is to not gimp trial mechs as badly.

I can see where the OP is coming from, in no other game will a new player with default (beginner) equipment be thrown into a match with possibly the best players/groups in the game.
What he probably doesnt realize is that MWOs player population is so low that its impossible to have a proper MM, that without throwing everyone into the same buckit you would have to wait a long time for a game.
The problem with this is a snow balling affect that reduces population as some players leave and the new players dont stay because they are stomped in the shark tank.
