So the most recent search result for the Bushwacker Battlemech is over 4 years old, at this point, and all the talk at that time was having to wait a "whole 4 years" for the Bushwacker to be released.

I understand that the Bushwacker comes a couple years later in the lore than the initial Clan Invasion, but my understanding is that currently planned 'mechs, such as the Linebacker and Night Gyr were developed and introduced at around the same time as the Bushwacker, so the currently planned introduction of these 'mechs automatically makes the Bushwacker fair game.

It's an extremely popular 'mech among younger players who were introduced through the Mechwarrior Games (Particularly MW3) and uses all existing weapons and equipment.

It's past time for the Bushwacker. Posted Image If there's any doubt, put it to a poll.

Russ did say that tech was more important, especially for the base variant, than timeline.

I'm not a big fan but I'd like it added at some point, not sure about next though. A 40 tonner like the Assassin or a light, even a 95 tonner, would add more than the Bwhacker.

Looking at all of the specs and the trends, it'd end up being pretty mediocre in MWO given its limitations. I also don't think the whole deal about its profile being adjusted to take less fire would actually factor in to MWO either...

...and ultimately, I don't care about mechs that much anymore. I want features. Weapons, game modes, overhauls, new maps (frozen city isn't even a new map, they just turned it into a different one), and actual balance changes rather than band aid quirks that accomplish very little. I don't think I am alone in that sentiment, either.

I don't know about the Bushwhacker being only mediocre. People thought that about the Viper, yet it has turned out pretty well despite it's limitations.

While I have fond memories of the Bushwacker and it is a very desired mech due to nostalgia having looked at it's specs in the TRO it is... not going to be easy to make it work. Majority of it's base variants are actually the exact same hardpoints with PGI's hardpoint inflation. The real issue I see with it is just the way it is laid out as well as the small difference between variants makes it problematic.

BSW-1X
  • 1x Autocannon/10
  • 2x LRM-5s
  • 1x ER Large Laser
  • 2x Machine Guns
BSW-X2
  • Autocannon/10
  • 3xLRM-5's
  • 2xMedium Pulse Lasers
  • 2x Machine Guns
BSW-L1
  • LB-20-X
  • ER Large Laser
  • Bonus: Light Fusion Engine (not in the game yet)
BSW-S2
  • LB-10-X
  • ER Large Laser
  • 2x SRM4
  • AMS
BSW-S2r
  • Plasma Rifle
  • LB-10-X
  • SRM4
  • AMS
As you can see the load out doesn't change that much from version to version and two have equipment not in the game so the S2r really has no place against the S2. The L1 would lose the LB-20-X for an AC20 and a bunch of ammo (so it could happen but would be a pain to drive).

The others are workable but, again, not much variation to work with so not much in the way to differentiate them since (unlike the Crab) they have almost identical weapons instead of at least some attempt to have some difference.

That all said I would like the Bushwacker in MWO, and we will find out in September the next IS mech.

I'm not opposed to owning a Bushwacker, but not next, there are around 20 I'd prefer

It doesn't fit the timeline at all. The game is stll 3051, the first model didn't go to production until 3053, and PGI would have to invent variants for it. Outside of previous MW video games, its not actually that great or popular a mech amongst table toppers.
