What if we had a second set of doors?

- The outer doors are closed, and the inner doors are open.
- The corresponding inner door closes when the outer is blown up.

.. This would encourage more lance play, as one lance could guard each door, when the outer door is blown, they are 'stuck' outside (or they can retreat via pathways)

Alternately, once an attacking force blows the outer door, they can use the pathways to progress to an open inner door (the outer door turrets should still be able to fire on them, if they're up)

This would make scouting info more valuable.

The inner door should rise from the ground, allowing lights at top speed to cover the distance after the outer door is blown.

It might combat the bottleneck shooting gallerys. More tactics are available.

Shoot out some scenarios, lets see if it holds up.

Nice idea but does it even matter?

In the new "FW is quick play with respawns" the mode has become, I haven't played a real invasion map in about 30 matches.

There are interesting possibilities here, especially with the pathways you've drawn in yellow (in fact, I'd like those pathways even if the rest of your idea wasn't implemented!).

My concern would be the extra turrets. Turrets don't do much damage overall, but they can certainly be a nuisance and there are times when they make a difference. With the extra turrets, defenders could set up just inside the new gate, knowing that the new turrets will soften up the enemy and the old turrets (at the original gate) will be mopping up any attackers left if the defenders are eliminated. It sounds like a bit too much to me. Instead, I'd say the new gates have turrets, and the old ones do not. Also, your suggestion that the inner gate closes when the outer gate is destroyed is intriguing, but it means any defenders in a forward position will get cut off. I think people would just refuse to go to the forward position and so all the fun of the new gate would really be eliminated because the battles would still take place after the inner gates are open. So in place of the original turrets I'd place a mechanism to open/close the gate. The defenders wouldn't have the extra damage output of turrets but they would have the ability to move in and out of the inner gate as they please. Obviously the destruction of the gate's generator would also prevent any further closing.

Just my first reaction suggestion :)
