I personaly don't think that poptarting needs any kind of buffs. This is purely an aesthetic opinion, since I find giant ton robots hopping up and down kinda silly.

Just imagine the Blood Asp poptarts-- ECM and JJ variants with omni pods and high mounts. Mmmmmmmmm

I'd say leave the pop tarting situation alone. I haven't seen it ruin matches, it takes a lot of skill to quickly aim when coming down. Yes it's annoying when they've made you a target, and it's hard to fire back but rotate, don't potate. I caught out two people who were too busy pop tarting and spotted em for LRMer's, we closed in on their position and I helped take em down (felt very good).

I feel JJ's need to be improved rather than nerfed, then try to cap add penalties for certain heights e.g. 15 meters = 25% nerf, 25 meters 50% nerf etc (dont take the values at heart just the theory). At the moment KDK2's lift is absolutely pathetic, I cannot clear fairly basic terrain and if I do, it's certainly a lot of hassle. The Dire just needs it's to help climb slopes so it's actually useful, it seems to trip over every damn twig in the game. Marauder IIC seems to also suffer this overweight feeling.

I think PGI is worried about the lights/meds flying away. I personally think this needs to be their advantage, we all have to stare in the sky stupidly to shoot UAV's down right?
Lights who fly around risk getting their legs shot off, cause that's all that may be seen.

This isn't a thread about nerfing poptarting-- it's a thread about imagining how poptarting would be right now were JJs never nerfed like they were

It would be an issue for sure.

I could imagine then I would say something like, "why not balance it by increasing heat on the weapons?" then I could imagine PGI saying something like "sounds good, ghost heat on everything!" and I would be like "naw man you didn't even need to do all that, just make it so the reticle shakes" and PGI would be like "naw man you need that -and- jj nerfs." and I would be like "dude that screws over every possible jj config mech why not just use quirks to buff those mechs back up to the standard?" and they would be like "great idea, negative nerfs on all mechs" and I would be like "dude seriously some of these mechs need buffs now" and PGI be like "awww yeah son we got you let's put +20AC20 cooldown on the Highlander" and I be like "dude nobody run an ac20 on those anymore" and PGI be like "we're sorry we'll add +10% LL range too" and I be like "what does +10% LL range even -do-?" and so on so forth.

That's how I imagine it would be like.

Problem with poptarting is not the poptarting itself but what it promotes in the hacking dept. Several of those banned were avid poptart people and promoted it heavily.

Not to say there were not many golden players who were just perfect with it. Its the mediocre players who became way more than their actual skills allowed.

Back in the day you would have entire teams of poptarts raising up and not missing a shot. That's some pretty long odds no matter how many were actually good players. That's my reason for not wanting it back. PGI has a very poor record of squelching exploiters.
