So PGI has said the timeline is going to 3060, and Russ at the last Roundtable suggested it might go to 3068. What does this mean for FW?
There are other threads on tech/weapons and balancing, let's leave that topic there and talk about other stuff such as...the map.
PGI has been adamant about not wanting a 'rush to best mech', or that past a certain point all you see is ClanTech. I'll even go so far as to say they have been fairly successful in this regard (though how successful is a matter of debate).
But we start talking timeline advancement and now depending on where they peg the new date there are two Clans flat-out siding with the Inner Sphere, and a third has taken up permanent residence.
PGI has ignored that the FedCom should be in existence thus far, but will the FedCom civil war be a thing?
If we go to 3068 will the Wobblies become a faction?
Non-Tech Implications Of Timeline Bump

Short answer: no
Slightly longer answer: why in the hell would PGI introduce a 3rd faction when they have finally gotten it through their heads that this game can only support two?

I don't think PGI will change the FP map to be in line with the Battletech canon..
..mainly because there are no Smoke Jaguars. How would they sell Smoke Jaguar faction camos, cockpit items and dekkels if there are no Smoke Jaguars?

Itll be brutal, but imagine if they rearranged everyone, and your factions tech history decides your amount of mixtech. Replece jags with nova cat. Ghohst bear and frr combo on is side, and bring 2 clan, 2 IS mechs per dropdeck, with dropdecks being minus 5 tons normal weight. Kurita and steiner bring 3 IS mechs, 1 clan per dropdeck. They have a middle weight. davion, marik, and liao bring all IS mechs, but get an extra 5 tons total dropdeck weight.
For clans, wolf and jade falcon bring 3 clan mechs, 1 IS mech, diamond shark is split 50/50 like the rasalhague dominion and is down 5 tons on dropdecks, like frr but for clans, nova cat and hells horses are pure clan tech with extra 5 tons like davion-marik-liao.
Maintain two sided IS v Clan conflict, with WoB special events AFTER we get tired of operation bulldog, the great refusal, and the fedcom civil war events.

All mercs migrate to ghost bear dominion for mixed mech drop decks, I dont think the time line jump is going to affect the map, just have to wait and see what PGI have up their sleeves.

There is potential to introduce new faction decals and camo. That would be nice and everyone has their favourite.
It doesn't need to be overly complex in terms of changing functionality behind the scenes to cater for things like mixed factions. Throw in the odd event, that would do the trick, particularly where we have mixed factions.

Perhaps, but also by this time the all-out Clan v IS wars are winding to a close.
There are the occasional Jade Falcon forays, but after Op Bulldog and, especially, Op Serpent, all out Clan v IS war is a thing of the past.
