New Thing To Help Against Friendly Fire.

I propose that whenever you aim at a friendly or your weapons converge over a friendly...
not weapons lock like Warthunder because were not above hitting each other, but.
Just a simple symbol that Everyone including the noobs understand...
just put it right over the crosshair... that way If you realy want to you can still fire at those teammates... but have a visual responce that you should not.
would also help with the blue in a red box with enemy behind him situation where people cant see the blue guy....
how to explain it? your targeting computer shows that you are aiming at a friendly and warns you of friendly fire...
It doesn't have to be this symbol... it just needs to be a visual that everyone can see even when they are in 100% tunnel vision with zoom and every thing.
Later on we might even raise the penalty of doing friendly damage...

Worked great. cut down on lots of friendly fire.
Often times in MWO, when brawling, enemy and/or friendly close in nose to nose and you cant see the 'triangle' so you dont know if it is friendly or baddie. Mini-map not zoomed enough if multiples close in....
Also, there are times (like topping a small hill or rise) that the enemy 'red' target shows up and you fire only to find out there was a friendly in between yet the target info was over the friendly....

Unless it somehow took that into account.

I like it. An elegant solution that would stop some people with twitchy trigger fingers from coring you by mistake. And to keep all the skillhards happy, perhaps it could be toggled off in settings.

And this is from the same community that complains about how everyone else is a "potato." Idiocy... Just more of the same lunatic notion that a game should be "hard to play" so the skill-hards can then whine about all the "stupid noobs and potatoes" so they feel better about themselves.
As for the OP's suggestion, sure, why not? It doesn't hurt anything, and if it prevents some FF incidents, it's worth it, even if that means fewer posts on the forums about "how everyone else is stupid but me."

The only other time i actually have FF issues is the very rare occasion where i have a high energy alpha strike mech and fire it at someone while running hot. If i overheat and some idiot walks into my line of fire there is nothing i can do to stop the damage. Luckily this is very rare since i have decent heat management, but it has happened in situations that im about to die or something and need to dump that 60+ damage into someone right now or its over and a friendly just walks right in to it after i melt.
That said, if its not too hard to implement why not, if it helps cut down on some of that 50+ team damage a few of the imbaciles pull off every other game (and ive been on the recieving end of that more then once given i strip all my rear armor and if someone does shoot me there with something like dual gauss im dead) then why not...

Seriously folks, this isn't "dumbing down" the game or otherwise intruding on your leetness.

Certain games simply make your guns ineffective against friendly targets, but then how would I... wait... well played, OP. You almost got me to confess!

LURM boats dropping missiles on brawling targets they can't see.
'Brave' pilots that hung back and now suddenly want that kill regardless of personal cost to the friendlies in the way once the match has been won.
Pilots masking the target to 'secure the kill'
situationally unaware pilots that push past a mech with line of sight to an engaged target, and then call them idiot potato heads for shooting them in the back.
The kill suddenly becoming phantom and shots that would have hit it suddenly impacting a friendly the other side ( this is clearly an intended feature of the game as it's happened from day one, with no comment about fixing it)
Streak boats tracking targets that imposes a friendly between it and the firing mech
None of these situations will change by adding a feature that isn't needed, the red dorito exists for a reason, friendly fire happens because people chose to ignore it

put a decal in your back
I have a Decal on my Back... it says "Alpha Strike" because thats what I do. 140 Damage removal of mechs at a klick. Do not move in front of me. Unless you want to give me some MC so that I can buy the required Decals and colours to make said simbol and write friendly I am inclined to not do that.
Also COD has no Friendly fire warning. it simply kicks you after you do X or Y number of teamkills. Unless you are the host in which case you can do whatever the **** you want.

Unfortunately we had the same problem with adv. zoom. however it has been solved.
therefore HSR is not a problem.

I am mostly taking friendly fire because SOMEBODY things I am good cover and does not know that his guns are behind me or tries to kill an enemy through me regardless.
I am not one of these that stand in the third line.
then again I am certain that LURMS are way less effective at friendly fire than any other weapon system since locked lurms hit from above at a set angle and you have to touch the enemy in a bigger mech than he is in while the lurm boat is directly behind you .. to get hit by friendly lurms unless people are dumbfiring cuz you dont press R.
while were at it I feel inclined to post this

I can't comment on your personal situation, but some of that friendly fire could well have been a sniper under ECM, and if people do decide your 'cover' it still isn't going to stop the FF just because you have a no entry sign plastered over your backside

while you have good points theyr not detrimental to say, no we cant have this.
Its just a simple thing and as Chados Said there might be the option added with it to simply turn it off if you want to, just like the feet alignment arrow.
