Sometimes you just end out of position or have bad luck with first contact. With clan XL you can shed your side torso, escape and be pretty effective for rest of the match. With IS mech you would be dead either because you're too slow or too fragile.

I use XL engines in my 'hammers and ii would like to think i do pretty well. I can hold my own at times and even perform the circle of death. Took 2 down one time and thought to myself that went pretty well.

In my experience, XL engines can either be +/-. Many view it as a -, if you practice hard enough you'll have an easier time with it and find yourself not dying faster than usual. I'll admit, im tier 5, im not expert pilot or anything. But i generally run XL engines in my IS mechs. I prefer speedy heavies for harrassment.Posted Image

This does really well for me: WHM-7S

I laugh at the idiot who doesn't back down from my wrath because he thinks he's going to XL check me and I keep coming.

Now comes a question: What is your Tier Level?

I'm not sure his tier, but I can attest to his "skill" level. WolvesX is usually a credit to team. Posted Image

I had a FP skirmish last week end, playing on the IS side. I ride warhammers in that game, and i got ST death twice, both were destroyed in less than 2 second or so, and i dont even spot them before i got hit and do anything (twist my torso or find a cover) to survive a little longer, and in the cause of death screen i found that it was ERPPCs and gauss.

I know IS mech with a XL will die by losing a ST, and i should twist my torso to avoid getting hit concentrate on a ST, but i am just not good enough to make the most out of it. The clanners know my warhammer can be kill with a ST gone when they know my loadout, and they go for it straightaway. My CT armor was either untouched or only light yellow when i died.

I know some veterans will say that "it is your fault! You need more situation awareness! And twist like hell!". Yeah, i do agree my skills is not good enough. Because i know i am by no mean a skilled pilot to do what they say, i guess my best bet would be a clanner, and i glad that i bought 3 Timberwolfs during the the sale last week, that is a mech for a noob like me, and no, i had enough defeats playing the IS side anyway. The result of that game was 10-48, terrific as usual.

GOOD BYE my Black Widow, hope i will have fun on it again the the future.

Just play on the Clan side like you are moving to...problem solved. All new players should go Clan really.
