Can "social" Get Some Love Too?

Yet, the social aspect of the game is still like 4 years ago, more or less.
You can only add friends in a generic list, single message one mate and invite them to groups.
Is that a cryengine limit?
People complain a lot about pugs, lack of coordination, and a bunch of things a good social interface could help to mitigate. Yet something like social is still bound to a mini icon on the right bottom.
Craziest thing till now is that actually you still see people online that are not, and the only way to update your list is to single-message everyone every now and then.
I'm i the only one think that social aspect of MWO need some love?
Do you have any hint on why it is left to same "alpha" state since 2013?

- Sending PMs doesn't work when people are offline
- There's no universal way of communicating betwee people in UI and in matches. If a friend is in a match, you have to hit them up on external teamspeak servers or social media.
- No kind of global chat.
- No persistent chat window in the UI, like MMORPGs have.
- You can't see the last time people on your friend's list were online, so you don't know who's playing the game anymore.
- Does anyone use LFG anymore? It's incredibly incomplete.
- The UI and website has no way of making it easy to find and join a unit, so we're left with the forums.

That's all you people do.
You want more social? Hello!?

What more could you possibly need or want?

I don't usually respond with this cookie-cutter answer, but... it's the minimally viable product. There aren't any technical limitations, PGI just figures they've done enough and it's not worth trying to improve things right now. Or perhaps ever.

Clan XL nerf is very, very hard on energy builds, basically Timberwolf without a side torso can't even run 3 medium lasers without overheating. With uac5s also being severely nerfed, ballistic boats also suffer from this. You can pretty much only run small lasers or small missiles without a side torso on a clan mech
So Clan/IS balance is in a pretty good point now

I don't even notice it, personally.

Now it's pretty much always better to destroy a torso first when fighting a Clan mech, it gets neutered damage wise and heat dissipation is barely existent.
Even ballistic ones, drop a side torso on a KDK3 and he barely releases several salvos before overheating, I **** you not - brawled one down in a Bushwaker
You're very right on oe thing tho - Clan Battlemechs are now in a relatively best position they have ever been

People with power over other people will never allow change that threatens their power.
Yes Social sucks and always have but having a decent social system would threaten the factions and TS systems they built.
Go back on the forums and read through anything related to this subject and see. A clear pattern emerges.

The social aspect should be paramount in any mmo really.

Yeah all of that. Basic. Basic.

Give me those and I'm good, that's about all I use in the MMORPG's I play.

I guess the tricky part is figuring out how to bundle it up as a $20 'Social Pack' with option 'Social Hero' mode for an additional $20.
