In an Escort match how do you know where the extraction point is?

You don't until the drop ship arrives.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why PGI won't let the defending team know the extraction point and the VIP's path at the beginning of the game, unless they're worried about people cheating...

So what do you do? Do you just start walking towards the center of the map and hope you see the extraction air ship along the way?

You basically just have to follow the VIP and hope it doesn't do anything too idiotic.

Does the VIP mech have a way point marker on his HUD or something that tells him where the extraction point is or does he just wander around aimlessly until he sees the extraction air ship?

Okay, I just found out the VIP is an AI mech. I was thinking there was an actual person in there.

VIP tends to change paths, too.
On several runs of the same map, the VIP has only taken the same path two out of seven times. The other four were entirely different paths or different branches of a similar path. When the VIP slows down or comes to a stop, I believe this is when the AI is deciding on which path it wants to take.

Too bad turret placement in FP Invasion modes aren't like this, 'deciding' which of many possible locations they would be in so that less experienced groups don't get rolled by the teams who meticulously plan every detail.

Of the three times the VIP got to the final destination... it was only the same place two of the times and on the third it was a different place.
